  • Closing out my stockpile of parts

I have decided that I am not going to be owning another Retro anytime soon, if ever. I will be posting my stockpiled parts in the classified section as per the forum rules.
There are plenty of fine folks here and I have successfully sold extra parts since I joined this forum. Many people here appear to really love these cars and I'd like to offer these items to those who really need them.

I am making this post here because I have observed that some people find it necessary to make rude comments when items are posted for sale. I am not interested in what people find on E Bay/Craigslist for lower prices. If you are interested, fine. If not keep scrolling. I tried to sell rims on here last year and was met with rude remarks and links to cheaper prices. What is the point? My goal was to help out forum members.

Marc, with all due respect, your desire to help forum members is the exact motivation others are exercising when they suggest cheaper sources for the items you might have overpriced. If you were in the market for wheels and someone offered wheels for sale at double the price they are available elsewhere, wouldn't you want to know of the cheaper source?

Sorry, I do not agree. Highjacking a sale thread is not nice. I have been a member of another forum for years and the protocol has been to just scroll by if you feel the price is too high. Overpriced? By your standards? I not going to get into a debate with you, so lets agree to disagree.

I happen to agree with Marc. It is up to the buyer to shop around NOT other member's here on TBN. If a member here on TBN does or doesn't take the time & effort to shop around that is up to him. It is not another members task, need or place to hijack a sellers post let alone include snarky remarks. But then on the other hand it certainly isn't unusual for the constant rude remarks to appear in posts here on TBN.

I'll agree that threads have tendency to go south fairly often around here. Few among us are completely blameless and that is probably due to familiarity and the conversational aspect of the forum more than sheer snarkiness.

On the other hand if your stated goal is to help out other retro owners and your prices are higher than other outlets for the same item, then who are you really helping out other than yourself? I'm not saying your items are overpriced per se, as I have no idea what they are "worth", but if you are worried about someone pointing out there are less expensive alternatives then you might not be being all that helpful.

Mike, I basically agree with you and you would not be able to find a single post out of my nearly 5,000 where I made a snarky remark, made a rude comment, pointed to a lower price, or criticized the asking price of anyone's sales items EXCEPT where the seller was clearly trying to exploit fellow TBN members. Your friend asking $39 (plus shipping) for a copy of a radiator label comes to mind.

I wasn't going to post this ...but..I see where Jersey is selling an OEM car cover for $200+frt. Not a bad price, but I was lucky to purchase one for $50 +frt from Chromer. Now I'd admit I got an excellent deal, but I also bought another $200 worth of her offerings....everybody is happy

Harry I don't believe I said you ever did say anything off base, nor do I believe I was accusing you of anything.
I do believe that a lot of unnecessary comments are made quite frequently throughout the daily posts and firmly believe that it has a strong impact on many to either quit participating or leave TBN completely.
I am posting this here to be perfectly clear that I am not attacking you personally. I am stating my thoughts as what I see & read & watch our membership dwindle.
Also Harry please refrain from attaching my name or my reputation to anyone who has or will be in the future selling anything Thunderbird related. Whatever friendship you are elluding to never existed, does not exist and your accusations are both unfounded & certainly unnecessary.

Whatever link you posted doesn't work.

Greg, this thread isn't meant to sell stufff. Marc has already posted at least two other threads where he is selling stuff.

Right. This was just a thread started to tell everyone that he was about to sell things. I’ll keep my opinion on that to myself.

This tread is going downhill quickly. I am simply selling some items I cannot use. I bought these items thinking I would own another retro and need them. Now I do not, and have decided to try and sell them here since one problem with these cars is finding parts. The proceeds from these sales are simply going to reimburse me for what I spent, I am not trying to get rich on members here. Again, I will post what I have, if it interests you...great. If not just move along and don't highjack or make comments. I just don't get some of the people on here.
