Now I will have to check on that. All five of the 2004's have original windshields.

Thanks, Ron, for that pic. It looks like or very similar to the originals.

Bottom line, you can still get a windshield.

After Ron's post on getting two last June with emblem and saying it is now made by PGW instead of PPG I went to local Ford dealer. When he was looking it up in computer system he said the part number has changed and was available. He check with supplier and it does have emblem. Went to Safelite and they will be ordering one for me. I'll keep you posted when job is complete.

Checked my 2004's and they have PPG. Anyone else have a windshield with Carlite? Carlite is a Ford label.

What is the shape of your thunderbird emblem on the windshield? Carlite used an earlier thunderbird emblem at first (10th generation emblem) than the retrobird style.outline. Carlite was a Ford OE replacement windshield for a number of years but not the original windshields... which were PPGs. Owners were complaining about the old style emblem as early as 2001 since "rocks happen." When my 05s windshield was replaced first time in 2007, we got a PPG windshield through Safelite. I'll see if I can find my succession of windshield photos on the 2005.

You might want to read this quote that is on my website and also here on TBN in a much longer, much older thread.:
              http://portholeauthority.com/thenewt...indshield.html scroll down that page.

There is an extensive discussion about replacing cracked windshields on this thread on TBN which includes the following conversation a member had.

An owner contacted Carlite directly, regarding the OEM windshield available for his PCR (04 Pacific Coast Roadster special edition), and got a quick and authoritative response from their Technical Services Manager.

              Here it goes:

              Begin Text////////////////////////////////////////////

If your vehicle has the heated wiper park feature, you will need a DW01546 GBNCAR. If your T'Bird doesn't have this feature, then you should get DW01559 GBNCAR. We indeed carry the OE parts with the OE trademarks. You will need to insist on the Carlite parts in order to get the original. Even though these windshields are made by PPG, they are not allowed to sell the parts with the Thunderbird logo through their aftermarket channels - they can only sell them to Carlite who then distributes them to the aftermarket.

              Carlite Technical Services Mgr.
              rwatson at ach-llc.com

              End Text//////////////////////////////////////////////
DO note that parts numbers with Ford have changed as Ron mentions above, probably because supplier of windshield changed.

it appears the shape of bird is retro, I figured it was a replacement,as its pretty clean for 92,000 + miles on it it was a good job I cant tell at all. all is good too as with mileage I don't worry about originality(allows for tasteful mods as well)

                figured I needed something here
