Um, ok Bob. Without a link or anything, it's not of much meaning to anyone who may be interested.

Guys it appears to me that our Dear Friends at Ebay will not let the general public go back and look at a listing after it has expired or has sold.

Seems to me that is what is happening here. They refer you to a similar open "like" listing. Appears to me that Minnesota Greg lists the open listing for the "boot". It has closed by the time Nevada Greg hits the expired/sold link and Ebay in their inimitable wisdom searches for an open listing for a "Thunderbird boot", finds none and points to a "similar" item--a Thunderbird Hardtop! We know it ain't similar but they evidently don't or are protecting their listings or trying to ensure we don't contact a expired listing's owner to make a deal outside of Ebay cutting Ebay out of a fee.

            Just a guess obviously.

I think its a setup so he can follow it with a mention of the great deal he got on his car/boot/diecast/mats/TBird shirt or underwear at Walmart.

Just a guess on my part obviously as well.....

Interesting the redirected hardtop just sold. ((I think it is the same hardtop...could be wrong). A good sale, on another Tbird chat sight seller mentioned totalling his Tbird and having the top in his garage. Was going to take the top to the dump unless it would sell. Started at $5 and ended at over $900. Shrewd business decision, I’d say!

Hard tops run from $600 to $1995. $925 was paid by a 'private listing bidders identity hidden' what's that all about?

It is a setting that EBay allows if a seller doesn't want his buyer's Id shown.

FYI: If you are looking at a completed eBay auction and get redirected you can hold your cursor over the word "listing" and click on it you can bring up the completed auction..

Actually you can IF you figure out what the auction's number is and use the advanced search And select finished auction. In this case, I can see the number 292656396984 when I quote your comment to answer your comment. gotta know ebay.

Thanks for that tip, too. I'll try it the next time I look for an old auction.

Do a search for the item and hit "advanced", click on completed, also click on sold if you don't want to see the items that didn't sell
