I think $12K to $14K is a good average price for both the seller and the buyer these days. Some sell for more, but most sell for less. Parts are a concern, but not a reason to sell at this point. I suggest taking a sedative at night and keep enjoying the car. Works for me!

I am going to sell my 03 bird with 24,400 miles, after I just learned the Front Electronics Module failed again. Replace it 3 years ago with an ebay salvaged part. Will try to sell as soon as I can get a new FEM (I understand a few are available again after TRW stopped supplying them to Ford. It has the tonneau and a white hardtop, and I figure I can trade it on a something else for about the same price.

For 7 months of the year my car sits in the garage with a battery tender attached. As a result from the warm Florida humidity I suspect the car has had some deterioration issues. I had to recently had the Ford dealer locate a used gas tank as new was not available any longer. Most recently I had trouble getting the car out of park. When I brought the car in I was told I also do not have brake lights. This was diagnosed as a faulty brake light switch. It took the dealer over 2 weeks to locate a new switch. I also had to replace a piston for the convertible top. I was told this was the last one in the United States that Ford had. All these instances and future probable repairs based on replacement parts is the reason I thought of selling the car. I don't mind being a little patient but with parts deteriorating and becoming obsolete it takes the fun out of the car.
I also recently spoke to a car insurance adjuster and was told if a front fender or door needed to be replaced and no used parts were available they would total the car.
So with this in mind, and so few Birds manufactured and non OEM parts available this now becomes a consideration as to now how long to hold onto the car.

Larry if you are worried about Parts availability it is not something I would lose sleep over. There are still people keeping 1955 -1957 Thunderbirds operating and restoring. Companies will always make a part if there is a void and Ford still has lots of parts that were used on Lincolns during the same years, and Jaguars too for that matter. If you are determined to sell, get it detailed for $100-$150 and run some ads starting at around $17,000 and be prepared to accept a little less if you get tired of waiting. I bought one similar to yours that had 28864 miles on it from a BMW dealer and paid $16500 last summer. With the low miles your car has there are companies which will sell an extended warranty for 5 years or 75,000 miles for anywhere from $1500 to $3000 for the "Platinum coverage". MAP is the one I bought, just for piece of mind. You can do that if you love your Thunderbird and want to keep it.sigpic

Thanks for the reply. Getting rid of the car is not a done deal as yet. Still thinking about it and what to get as a replacement. Thinking about a Mustang convertible. Used 2016's are a little pricey . Sometimes making a decision is hard to do.

My 2003 is around the 25K mileage level. One owner, garage kept, never seen ice/snow/sleet, driven in the rain twice, two tops, ww tires, maintained. etc.
Unfortunately, no one in my family has the least interest in the car.
It's not for sale (yet), but if someone comes up to me at a car show and makes a fair deal, I would seriously consider it. What's a fair deal? Depends on how many martinis I've had that day.
I went through the parts availability debacle a few years ago. At my age, I don't need to go through it again, especially considering that I also own it's mechanical twin, a Lincoln LS.2010 Explorer Limited Edition, tri color white, camel interior
2003 TBird black/saddle
1964 Ford Galaxie 500XL conv't turq/black
2004 Lincoln LS 8 Sport light tundra metallic/medium stone
