See what a little poking can do.
Got Harry in on this, got Bill in and a few more. End result? The person who has the broken part has found out all kinds of information, some good, some bad & some totally useless.

    Mission accomplished!!

Oley was last here on July 13th so you can try sending a PM for the next time he stops in. There used to be a way to send emails. Looks like that went away with the new software.

        Harry,
Your are wrong. so disappointing. The $600.00 price you refer to is for the complete latching assembly. Complete like the whole thing.
$75.00 is the cost of the repair kit.

So have a good time blasting away at a resource for unique parts for the Retro , but you really do need to have your facts correct.

Are you paid per post mentioning his website, click count, impressions, or?

Since I don't get to stay at any of your buddy's five Beverly Hills mansions or one of his six Malibu Estates I'm not going to help you pump your buddy's business by posting a link, instead I will just post the description from his webpage:
"Thunderbird Soft Top Latch Repair Kit – 2002-2005..... $75.00 -$549.00"

OK, you might have a point, $549 isn't the same as $600 unless you include your buddy's typical shipping, handling, research, design, prototyping, tooling, manufacturing, gas, electricity, water, scavenger service and real estate taxes.
In the unlikely event that the original poster has somehow found somewhere in the universe that charges as much as, or more than your buddy, I'd love to see it.

P.S. I did look up the price of the SPRING ONLY and it was $75 at your buddy's site so I'm pretty sure the original poster is talking about the same place you and I are talking about. AND that $549 price for his KIT does not include the J hooks. With the two $129 J hooks that brings the total to $809 PLUS all the above extra shipping etc charges.

Mike, it's your turn again, lets see if you have the chutzpah to defend the prices your buddy charges.

To Harry, Brad and anyone else who might be interested in learning I do NOT have any connections to mytbird.com.
I do NOT receive or ever have received anything, material or otherwise from my third.com.

WHAT I HAVE RECEIVED is pure delight & lot of laughter from all of you as you react & respond to my mentioning of mytbird.com as an alternative source for unique parts for the Retro. Whether any of you ever purchase from mytbird.com or from a seller on eBay or anywhere you so chose is up to you & none of my business.

Like I said way back in the beginning...See what a little bit of poking can do. Keep it coming I'm lovin' it. You guys are just too funny!

I'll bet Museau, and every other member that you try to steer toward your buddy's site get plenty of chuckles too! How about it Serge, didn't you find those prices laughable? Don't you appreciate someone trying to steer you to that site?

All of this is too much for my little brain to absorb! In the immortal word of Rodney King " why can't we just all be...………"

Ah heck, back to rollin' up all these loose nickels, dimes and pennies so I can get to $899 and afford a 1:18 Merlot model...…..Hmmm Merlot Model or new A/C compressor.

https://www.thunderbirdspecialties.c...e-cast-models/ for a second I thought it was just a bad dream.

See Donn was on the site today hope he adds his two cents regarding availability and pricing.

Harry, Oley on the site. He is the gentleman who provided J-hook repair kits on the site a couple of years ago. I bought one he provided to Chromer. Documentation and pictures on repair are outstanding.

                                Bill,

Thank you for the compliment. I appreciate it.
I did a lot of work trying to get my J-Hook bushings replaced and finally had to made my own parts. I am still around but very busy.
I have been selling my parts to "He Who's Name May Not Be Spoken" and he has been selling on his web site.
I do have a small supply of pins, bushings, springs and arms on hand and "He Who's Name May Not Be Spoken" has been a great repeat customer.
I do not have a web site nor do I have the time to support one so "He Who's Name May Not Be Spoken" has those costs and is filling my needs for one. I have no formal agreement with him and have supported people who have come directly to me first. Do I think his prices are high? Yes, but he is looking at the value the parts bring to the car. Not the value of the individual parts.

                                "Switch"

Ford wanted me to pay $700 for the header to fix my bushings and pins and another $1k estimated labor to install. $1,700.00! I am sure there is a reason for that but I found a work around and have been told that the instructions I supply are worth far more than the parts I have supply.
I don't want to get in between the people here with obvious history. I just want to bring my solution to help other Retro Owners with the same problem.
Again, thank you for the compliment.

                                Oley
