Thats why I have a Cashmere, of all the Retro's, that's my favorite. I looked a long time (year's) & spent more $$ then maybe I should have. For what I feel was the wright one.

Same reason I searched for an Inca Gold. I knew I wanted the 05 because of any refinements. I never but the first year of any car I purchase. Then someone told me about Inca Gold and I searched all the websites for this or a mint green. Glad this one came up in my neighborhood.

I'm a fan of the first year of production for classics, although they may be missing some later refinements, I think they represent the company striking out in a new direction and it increases desirability.

So I have an '02 TBird and a '63 Corvette split window coupe (the first Corvette coupe, the first hidden headlights, first Sting Ray, etc..)

I suppose if you came to the game late (sometime after 02 until now), choosing what model year you want might require a little study (the most important factor being the color you like best). As for me I wouldn't trade those first four years of owning our beautiful, albeit more common, Torch Red Jewel for any color or any "upgrade" made along the way. For those that weren't part of it, you'll never completely understand what I'm talking about. Likely, those that were part of that time will agree 100%.

If I were buying a used one today, I'd buy the one I like the color of the best and could make the best deal on - that would determine the model year. There's very little hard evidence that any one model year is less problem prone than the other 3. Some individual cars have had more issues than others, but none of the models have had a 100% failure rate of a particular component. There are plenty of cars in all the models years that have not had the more common issues. Likewise, there are some cars that have had them all and/or had other less common issues as well.

As for whether a number in the glove box or a low production number color makes something more desirable or not - it comes down to the individual buyer. As for what ones "worth", I'd say ours is worth more to me or wrapped around a tree than it will ever be to anyone else.

The Cashmere's were the swan song for the T-Bird retro models. They only came one way, no options and a limited number. That said they are more likely to be collectible. But everybody has their own preferences. If it were yellow I wouldn't like it. Because I hate the color. But somebody else might hate blue, or live on a dirt road and not want black. Different strokes for different folks. At least its not a Dodge.

I think that all Automakers have to make yearly improvements to their offerings. Saying that, I'd have to believe that the 2005 model would be the most desirable. As a firm believer in Ford's ESP program I'd also say that one with the extended warranty is a no brainer with the 2005. (Date for getting one is rapidly approaching!) As CVCashmere said colors are special to some folks. (2004-Merlot is my favorite!) I'd like to have the Homelink header that was available in 2005. Maybe when I tear my header out to replace the reveal molding I'll be a candidate for the unit Our member Brad has for sale on the retro parts for sale site on Facebook.

Yes 2005 IMHO is the most desirable.

Seems 1st and last years of production of any make/model have always been the most desirable for various reasons - all which have merit- but when it gets right down to it - it's what YOU like!

For me... 2005. Because that's what mine is. 50th anniversary baby! But in reality... They are all cool as hell. Pick a color you really like and go with that.
