What happens if you reach in down to & press the trunk release button and open the trunk? Will the alarm sound off? Or will the car react as if the trunk release button was pressed on the fob?
This I think would be similar to someone reaching in and opening a door using the interior door handle. Does the alarm sound off?

Since my HT is still on from the winter months I can't try any of this out, otherwise I would.
just tried this.with the inside trunk button unlocked and I was able to hit button and fully open the trunk with no alarm I could not get in the car as the unlock door button would not unlock the doors. however if I used the door handle to open door the alarm went off.
so if away from vehicle lock that button for the trunk
    figured I needed something here

Other than the rear window defrosters and short drop windows the car doesn't know if the top is down, soft top up or hard top on....with the alarm set and windows down, if an owner hadn't locked that armrest push button the trunk will open and no alarm... I just tried it...

Wait 10 or 15 minutes, the trunk will still open but the alarm will go off.
