  • Gas price changes since 2002

    Just for fun:

Have kept track of the gas prices since we bought our 02 in June of 02.
not always at the same station so prices at each time could vary
There were more fill-ups than shown so just trying to show quarterly differences - at the end you'll get my point

Premium prices near Fort Worth Tx:
    June 2002 - $1.50
    Sept 2002 - $1.45
    Dec 2002 - $1.50

    Apr 2003 - $1.65
    June 2003 - $1.55
    sept 2003 - $1.76 (labor day weekend)
    sept 2003 - $1. 67 (3 weeks after the one above - same station)
    dec 2003 - $1.58

    June 2004 - $1.94
    Sept 2004 - $2.00
    Dec 2004 - $2.00

    Apr 2005 - $2.27
    June 2005 - $2.19
    Sept 2005 - $3.10 (labor day weekend)
    Sept 2005 - $2.91
    Nov 2005 - $2.19 (didn't buy gas in Dec)

    Apr 2006 - $2.66
    June 2006 - $2.89
    Sept 2006 - $2.64
    Dec 2006 - $2.44

    Apr 2007 - $3.04
    July 2007 - $2.72
    Oct 2007 - $2.87
    Dec 2007 - $2.96
    Dec 2007 - $3.19

    Apr 2008 - $3.55
    June 2008 - $4.13
    Sept 2008 - $4.00
    Nov 2008 - $2.60

DOT, thats just not right to start a gas price thread and stop in the middle for a chili cookoff, are you going to start comparing the price of beans to gas?

18 cents near Hamburg, PA in about 1950.
25 cents in San Antonio in 1972 for premium. Less than $5.00 to fill up my Lincoln (24.5 gal) (I obviously had a few gallons in it.)
$1.82 in San Antonio today, November 8, 2008 for regular.

        No beans, no gas.

No recipe - I made potato salad - the old fashioned kind. However there were 14 chili pots and I tasted all of them - and yes, the gas was free!

I have put your overview in a little graph Dot.Took the average of each year. It shows the progression of cost over the years. You can simply imagine what gas will cost in two or more years..

Converted in Dollars....one Gallon in NL cost $6.71 right now. Would not fit my graph. But something for all of you in US to think off I guess with the rate it is going up...
To give you any idea...it takes me $120.74 to fill up my Bird when it's empty.

Yeah, but I'll bet beer is a lot less expensive in NL than in the US. Probably tastes better, too.
