Your temp gauge is basically an analogue idiot light…. The pointer will stay in the middle as long as the engine temp is running within specs. The pointer will not creep up or down. If you engine were to start running hot you will not know it until the it reaches the high level limit and at that point the pointer will jump into the hot area. This is typical of all gauges used in FoMoCo vehicles for some time. Normal operating temp is 200 to 210 degrees. Hot is approx 240.
