    Re: 10 Worst Cars

Leroy, I've watched ebay off and on for the 7 years that we've owned ours. Many of the winning bidders are resellers ( when we used to be able to see who the buyers were and could check out their buying habits!). If a private person gets on and tries for one, they usually have to go above what the reseller will pay for the car and know that he'll make a profit when he resells. The reseller usually has their own local market they're looking to make a profit in from what they get one off of ebay. I don't see the prices on ebay as more than an indication of the wholesale or private party price on the car. If a car doesn't sell on ebay, it's usually because a dealer was trying to advertise it at closer to the current retail price and hoping a walk-in might see it on ebay and come in and make a deal with them.

Just like the Stock Market, now is GREAT time to buy. As long as you are in it for the long game. Oh, and plus you get to drive a really nice car. Win-win in my mind.

5bird7, I bought my car on Ebay. I searched for a year before I bought one in 04/07. All the cars I looked at from our local dealers including Chicago were way over priced and in some cases junk as far as I was concerned. The dealers were trying to sell these cars with damage they wouldn't fix and some with parts missing. One thing I insisted on in any car I concidered buying was it had to be still under warranty with no visable damage and low miles. I found my car on Ebay at a Mercedes Benz dealer in Lancaster, Pa. over 1200 miles from me. But it was a one owner with 7000 miles on it and still under warranty. The car was so spotless they had it in thier show room with all thier new cars. I wasn't the highest bidder but I got the car becuase the other guy couldn't get the finnancing. My buddy and I drove to Lancaster in my Pick-up and I bought the car and paid cash for it. I've bought and sold alot of stuff on Ebay and have 525 Positive Feedbacks right now. Leroy

This is a funny thread for us Dutch, since 'Worst' means 'Sausage' in Dutch.

              "and dreary to drive"

I guess that's why my spirit lifts and my mood brightens every time I get behind the wheel of my Thunderbird. Once again we have the supposed "experts" trying to shape our feelings towards the Thunderbird. Only this time they come with hat in hand humbly begging our pardon for being wrong about giving their early praise of the Thunderbird.

Well I ain't buying it. These car magazines are just rags spewing "yellow journalism" as far as I'm concerned.

I'll keep my fun, trouble free, sharp looking, 2002 Thunderbird and let the "rags" tell the masses how great their cookie cutter cars are.

All I know is that, before we purchased our Thunderbird, we test drove a Jaguar, as well as the T-Bird. It was no contest. We bought the T-Bird and have been happy ever since. No regrets here!

                  Re: 10 Worst Cars

It is funny how closely Car & Driver watched the progression of the Thunderbird's initial concept through the years. The way they wrote the articles pertaining to the Thunderbird, it sounded like J. Mays was their hero, and the Thunderbird was the car to own. Although, reminding everyone the Thunderbird was not a sports car, still in '03, they were continuing to praise the Thunderbird.

Now they compare it to a Vega and the Citation?? This does not make much sense. I know all auto manufacturers have made mistakes and most have learned from them, but the Thunderbird and some others mentioned in that article are not mistakes.

I think this goes much further than Car and Driver claiming they made some mistakes over they years on their judgement of cars. I noticed most of the cars mentioned were Ford products, then GM products.

Possibly, one theory could be, they were jealous that they did not get any kickback money from the bail out of GM, and are mad at Ford because, since Ford produces quality products, they do not need bail outs nor do they need to line the pockets of ignorant magazine publishers, so Car and Driver is lashing out at American auto manufacturers starting at the top down.

From what I read and gathered from many magazine articles about the Thunderbird, 10000 Elvis fans can't be wrong.

This opinion may be a little biased, but I feel better sharing my feelings with the group.

From Car and Driver's perspective, it seems like most of the time they aren't happy unless the car they're reviewing is some European $100,000 sports car that most people could care less about. Give me MT any day. BTW, at a holiday lighting display where we had stopped, a teen aged boy came up to our 02 yellow Bird and his comment was "nice ride". Doesn't sound like a losing car to me.
