      the 280 HP rating is what the motor is rated at the flywheel. when on an engine dyno, you'll see about 280 HP. however, when it's in the car, the motor is also turning the accessories, like A/C, alternator, etc. on top of that there's a certain amount of driveline loss. this is because it takes power to turn all the stuff in the driveline, like the driveshaft, etc. the general rule of thumb is that your rear wheel HP will be about 15% less than the flywheel rating for a manual tranny. for auto its about 20%.

          Hi John,
          Thanks for clarifying that, so then the K&N Air Filter added 16hp more at the wheels then. That's a pretty good gain.

            Mark, see post #8. That's all that's been done to my Cashmere. I had it dynoed simply because I wanted to know if the hp had increased. It was just a curiosity thing, and a freebie, since we had the Shelby in for testing that day, and the guys had no other cars to 'play' with.
