Bought my 03 redbird last year at 61. Have previously owned 1979, 80, 85, and 88 Birds.
The 03 is by far the pick of the litter. The 88 turbo coup would be next.

I am 49 now. My first T-bird was a ten year old 1972 model (land yatch). It was a hand me down from my mom while I was in college. I had a '95 Cougar (T-bird sister) and a '97 model also both bought new. I ordered and waited for my first retro-bird which was delivered in January 2002. I put 90,000 miles on it in seven years and recently replaced it with a gently used 2005.

I always wanted a 2 seater Blue Tbird as a teen back in the 60s and never got one. So second childhood started in May 2002 at 55 with my '02 Blue.

Just like a replay of teenage years, sold it in '09 to get a sedan for my new baby, grand daughter. Best trade I ever made, but the '02 blue will always be the best car I ever owned!

I was 2 months from turning 53 and Janice was 51 when we bought our 02 in September of 2007. We wanted something fun and were looking around. The Tbird was and is perfect for us. Hope to have it for many, many years.

I was 54 when we took delivery of the '02 in September '01. The only new car that I ever owned that excited me near this much was the '68 GTO I ordered from the factory as well. Other Birds I've owned:

                '63: Purchased in 1974 when I was 27
                '72: Purchased in 1975 when I was 28
'78: Purchased in 1980 when I was 33. Was the family driver.
'65: Restoration project, purchased in 1988 when I was 41.
'65 (#2): A driver purchased in 1995 when I finally gave up on the first '65. I was 48. Sold to a club member (ITC) when I ordered the '02. It has passed hands twice since then, but is still a nice driver.

Still looking for the next Bird for my nest.

PS: Had the retro Bird not come along, the game plan was to buy a restored '57 when my daughter graduated from college in 2000.

I'm 66 & bought my 02 bird Jan. 2009. Sold a 2006 Mustang, the T-Bird gets more attention than the Mustang ever did. Owned two 1963 Birds since 1989 so have been a Birder for years. Sold the 63's & now just have the retro bird & a Fusion. Love driving the Retro Bird.

63 in Dec - 03 Torch Red - I have wanted a T-Bird since before I could drive so my first one and my first convertible too. I live south of Indianapolis so found this one online for sale at a Chev/Pontiac dealer on the west side. It had 15,000 miles, Premium with a hard top too and less than six years old.

Pretty sporty for an old guy. My wife said I could have a red ragtop but not the young blond (as part of the middle-age crazy).

It is neat - this is a great forum!

We bought our 05 Cashmere a yer ago last June (2008) when I was 61, will turn 63 in October My first car was a 1951 Chevy convertable almost the same color a light gray, with Maroon leather interior and orignally a black top, later changed to white. The tbird is like being back in high school in may ways. Just love the top down experience. Had a triple bi-pass in Noverber 07 and guess this is our excuse to live life as full as possible. We have really enjoyed the car even more than we thought we would. And have met many great people in the process. Only negative is we did not do it sooner.
