We bought our first t-bird in1966, our 2nd 1965 t-bird we bought in 2004, and our third t-bird is a 2004 merlot hardtop we bought in july of this year. We only have the 2004 , I'am 82 and drive it daily.
We bought our first matching white '89 birds new. I was 42, my wife - well, let's just say younger! I got my '02 last October, I was 61. I guess my average age is 51 and a half. Oh, to be that young again.

50, when I bought my 2005, 50th anniversary, NFTE 50.
50th Anniversary....Triple black with black accent package upgrade.....Chrome scoop bezel and rocker panels....50th Anniversary Illinois commemorative license plates for 2005 (#45/100). Real Plate is: "A NFTE 50"
in 2006, I retired at age 68, got bored and bought my own company a year later. In need of a company car I decided to choose from three options....
(Secretly I wanted a Caddy XLR but my little company couldn't afford one.)
1. Retro model Thunderbird
2. Chrysler Crossfire convertible
3. Corvette Roadster
I test drove them all and wrote all the pluses and minuses down on paper, assigned a value to each and the T-Bird came up with the most points.
I just turned 71 and still believe I made the correct choice.

Did the Crossfire really get any serious consideration?
Between an '05 Corvette or '05 T-Bird though.......... I'd be hard pressed to pick......on any given day I could give you a different answer.
The XLR is an interesting car that would push both aside for me too.
Plush and comfortable......like the T-Bird as well as packing the performance nearly up to the Corvette......
But you're right........like most things in this world........if you want it all ........you're gonna have to pay up.
I wouldn't be willing to shell out that much cash on a single car either.
Wow! Where shall I begin? Guess I'll answer the poll first. I was 40 when I ordered my '02 in November '01, but 41 when she arrived in February '02. I'll be 49 in a couple of months. This is my first T-Bird, but growing up my mom had a '66 Town Landau, a '69 T-Bird and a '72 T-Bird. I was so enamoured with the '66 as a kid, I wanted one as my first car when I was 16. My dad and I shopped around for quite some time, but never found the right one. I wound up with a '74 Gran Torino Elite (triple red). That car got me through high school and college, but had serious rust issues when I sold it. I then moved over to GM and bought an '82 Olds Cutlass Brougham brand new. It was beautiful to look at, but a piece of crap! I had a standing appointment at the dealership...engine pinging issues. From there I went Japanese where I stayed until I ordered the T-Bird. My daily driver is a Lexus LS460.
We wanted our '02 Blue since we saw the first picture in '01 but we lived in Rome Italy at the time and couldn't find a way to get one. We finally moved home and quickly made the leap this year when we found a beauty with less than 30K. My wife and I are both about to turn 56. The '02 Blue and our grandkids are the loves of our life. Other wheels are an '06 Merc Montego AWD and an '04 Ford Ranger. Guess who sleeps outside?
