  • AVERAGE AGE OF T BIRD OWNERS

In an effort to figure out how old the average T Bird owner is, I thought I'd start this thread to compile the stats. Should be interesting.
My T Bird is 2003 Whisper White with Evening Black hard top, Torch Red Accent interior. I was 61 when I bought it last year. I have had no previous T Birds, but owned many muscle cars and Corvettes in the past. I also own a 2001 Corvette and a Jeep Commander 4X4.

I was 59 last year when we acquired our '03 Evening Black Tbird. My Mom's best friend bought a new black Tbird w/continental kit & hardtop in the fall of 1954 and I always thought it was very sharp. That car was about 40 years old when I last saw it and still looked great! I think it was 1998 when I heard that Ford was planning to make a retro bird and I wanted one. However around here in 2002 they were selling to the "highest bidder" at dealerships, often going for 50+ thousand! Way too much!! I decided to wait and get a used one and last year we found the right one.

Not only did I want to show the average age, but give everyone a chance to tell us a little about themselves and their history with cars. I'm not sure we can get that interest with just a pole. Besides, I'm not that computer literate, LOL!! Bear with me on this, it will be interesting. Thanks to all who participate. I will figure the average age every so often to give members the running result. Ken

I bought my first TBird last year at age 68. The first car I ever owned was right out of college-a '58 chevy convertible. The TBird is the first convertible I've owned since then.

                  I was 26 when I got my Cashmere; I'm 30 now.
My first Thunderbird was a black '74 land yacht that I rode home from the hospital in when I was born. I believe my Mom had a white '91 at some point while I was growing up. My first car was an '86 navy blue metallic. Sometime after that, my Mom got a '97 baby blue - it got passed down to my sister. I fell in love with the Retro-birds in '02 and knew I had to have one.
Other Fords in the family have included 2 different black 70s-model F100s (or Rangers, whatever they were called then - Dad ran his mouth too fast and priced one to a friend at some point and sold it; still regrets it to this day - the second one he just recently bought, but it's not in nearly as good condition as the first); an '80 white F-250; an '84 white F-250 (the best truck in the world - Dad still has it - you can see the back of "Ole Whitey" peeking out from behind the garage in my avatar - this is the truck my sister and I learned to drive on in a cow pasture when we could barely reach the pedals - that clutch is stiff, too!); a '94 black F-250; a '99 white F-250 Lariat (Dad still has it - it has about 40k miles on it); and '84 white Mustang LX; '89 red Mustang GT (the 25th anniversary - Dad bought it for Mom for Valentine's day); and a '94 red Probe that my sister and I both drove the wheels off of. There may be a few that I've forgotten...

Bought my '02 new in March '02. I'm 74 now. About to finish (again) my 29 Model A Ford Phaeton. It stood around for 25 years. Body is Blue, fenders are black. Collected lots of critters in that time, but they are all gone now, I think!! Also have a '59 and '07 Vette.
