I also gave consideration to below as the ultimate shade hat but I decided on the Tilley LTM3.

My vote is on the Tilley. I have 4 of them, 2 for summer cruizin and 2 for cold winter days

Go to REI.com and then click on men's, hats or headwear. Same for womens. They have tilley hats and a number of other chooices. Some are almost as odd as Rusty's choice.

Tilly ... expensive but worth every penny. They are UV protected and waterproof.

All this talk about Tilley's was too much for me. We picked one up in Grand Morais, MN today. Rosetta got it for me for Father's Day.

It's nice to buy clothing in Minnesota, because it is not taxed here.

I still have all of my hair and alot of it. So I don,t have the balding problem.

OK, this is the collection, which one depends on my mood. I will say that the cowboy hat with the rhinestone tiara built in is my favorite. And my least favorite is the baseball hat with the crooked logo. The other one just kind of gives me an air of respectability in a retro sort of way.

Got hair, but I still get burned. I prefer an Indiana Jones style fedora or a bball cap, depending on the weather. The fishing shirt is a great idea ; gotta try that.

I drive with my Tilley, but don't like the looks of the strap so use a "lid latch". It hooks to the brim of your hat and then to the collar of your shirt.

I have worn Tilleys for about 10 years and never use the strap. The only time it has flown off was driving my boat and sticking my head above the windshield.

With the top down on the T Bird windows up or down, I have never lost my lid even at highway speeds. Comfortable but snug fit.

I understand why the straps would help, but exactly which Tilly do you find stays in place better? Meg or Jennifer? HA! I KILL ME!

Since starting this thread, I have now purchased a Tilley and this has been my short term experience also. Tilley recommends a loose fit, but I opted for a snug fit to improve security of my hat while driving. Althought I do not plan to use a strap around town, I do intend to maintain some type of security blanket when driving at higher speed. I am not sure if I am going to stick with the Tilly strap or add one of the lid latch cords mentioned earlier. If I get 10 years of experience and my hat never comes off, I may gain the same level of confidence you have.

                              Re: Hats for bald heads

I measured according to Tilley's instructions and when I got my latest hat, the vented one with the wide brim, I thought it was too loose. I went back and read that it should not be too tight it should sit comfortably on your head. My old Tilley is too tight and I have adjusted to the "Fit" of the new one. These hats are expensive but they are guaranteed. I always use the straps in any wind situation.

I opted for a snug fit also and have not had any problems. Tilley also has a lifetime quarantee on the hats. Who offers that anymore?
