Roger that. If someone gets down on their knees to examine the markings and tread patterns of my tires, I'm liable to discount any observations they make.

      Re: To all Falken owners

Jerry asked for opinions from Falken owners.. I seem to be the only owner to answer.. Maybe I have to only set on TBN. In defense of Diamondback and Falken tires, I don't think Diamondback would stake their reputation on an inferior product. Also, at $279 per tire, they are hardly cheap. They are also "W" speed rated. The installer at the Ford dealership was really impressed at how easy they were to force balance. He said as a set they were the easiest to balance and the truest round that he had ever installed. I value his opinion since he has many years experience.
I don't believe that the opinion of non-owners will be of much value to Jerry in his quest to purchase new tires.

        Sorry.
Falkens have long been popular with the sports car set, including my MINI Cooper buddies. Bang for the buck mentality. I've also run them on my Alfa and del Sol. Can't remember if I used them on the TR3B. Good for gymkhanas, road courses, rallies, etc.

          Re: To all Falken owners

I have 5,000 miles on my Falken 912's
In town (Las Vegas) I set pressure at 31psi (as Ford Req.) for a smooth ride for the wife.
For any out of town trip I set at 40psi.

Tires have great responce and road feel with great ride quality.

Since the OEM Mich tires lasted 41,000 and it took 5 years and for the last year the front end was out of alignment that caused a vibration at 70 MPH I can not compare the tires.

I had a contact that got me the 912 tires for $100 each plus instalation.

I'm on my second set of Falkens. I think they're a fantastic tire. I was even more impressed when my son-in-law drove up in his Carrera and had the same tires that I had picked out!

Wow, that 40 psi is pretty high. Do you know something I don't?

I see from the cut of your jib, you are a westerner.
So.....you have probably never been on a concrete highway with expansion strips.....
If you run 40PSI on one of those roads.....you would be saddened to find out that
ESP doesn't cover new dental work......

I run 35psi all the time on the Michelins tho.....I do like quick response. But 40 does seem too high.....I would watch for tread wear in the middle of the tire.

Two good reasons for not running 40 psi, and I have another one. If you have a blow-out because of tire failure, you would never be able to pursue any litigation against a tire company running that kind of pressure.

                    Re: To all Falken owners

I believe Falken is now, maybe always has been, owned by Cooper Tire. Cooper use to be a sleeper tire in so much that it was pretty good, priced well, and provided good service. Now-a-days some Cooper and Falken tires, maybe all, are made in China. A look on the side would tell where the tire was manufactured. If the ones you are looking at are made in China I think I would pass. A lot of big rids were starting to use tires made in China because they were naturally cheap. However, due to the failure rate has been so high and so many people have been hurt I believe they have banned, or there are discussion to do so, on big rigs by the DOT.

                      Re: To all Falken owners

Falken Tire Corporation is a Japanese manufacturer of automobile tires. Originally created in 1983 as a brand for Ohtsu Tire and Rubber to sell their lineup of performance tires under, Falken became part of Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI) when they acquired Ohtsu in 2003. Currently, Falken is paired with fellow SRI brand Dunlop Tyres to form Dunlop Falken Tires, Ltd., the parent group of Falken Tire Corporation.

When I did the pass thru sale/purchase on the IY, the Dealer had to put new shoes on her. She had the original OEM's, but sidewalls were toast. He put on Falken's. I have no complaints, ceptin I wanted wide white walls. Now I have to wait. On MMM, I have the Vogue's. Love the fit (fills the wheel wells better) and the look (from 20 feet or more). Yes the diamond design in the whitewall itself is a bugger, and attracts everything. Even with the "Clean-wheel" disks. The Gold stripe accents the Sand interior very nicely. BUT, when, and if, they ever wear out, they will be replaced with Michelin's from Diamondback with a nice smooth wider white wall. I run 35 psi in them. Absolutely.....no issues.

                          Re: To all Falken owners

I use Falken all season radial tires for winter driving in Vancouver. I have aftermarket rims with the original Michelins for the summer months. I cannot tell any difference inperformance between the two brands. They both track the same, brake the same and balanec out ok with the weights on the inside of the rim. The Falkens have a raised lip to protect the rim from curb rash so this is a plus. Way cheaper than the Michelins.

I agree tire choice depends on a lot of things, but for me what some one else thinks in terms of image is way down the list. Any one ( and many of you guys do ) who knows cars knows that different circumstances dictate different tires. A garage queen can get buy on a fake copy that will rot in the garage. :-) I agree with southern on 40 psi, may be a little hard on the dentures

Bought a set of Falken 912s from Diamond Back.

1/2" black (off the rim), 1 1/2" white.

Should have them on in a week or so.
