This is ridiculous. Someone at Ford needs to be shot.

I would think that a good mechanic could make one.

This is disturbing. Another part problem involving a car that is not driveable like that PCM one.

For a car only 6-10 years old, parts seem to be in short supply.

You may be suprised but there are a lot of OEM parts available thru eBay sellers who seem to specialize in older OEM parts. I suspect they get them from closed dealerships or buy "slow moving stock" from regular dealerships. I have also seen these sources selling items that have been superceeded by a newer part number.
Not sure of their sources but I have found several OEM items via eBay that the dealers cannot get thru their normal channels. I also supect that the dealers cannot (or will not) use these sources for a part that they must install and provide any type of warrentee for.

                      Paul:
I believe, with the downsizing, (elimination of Mercury) Ford is consolidating Ford and Lincoln dealerships in some parts of the country. So that could be how many parts end up through other distributors. Just a thought.

Here is a link to a site that will build custom hydraulic hoses:

                        http://www.aerohydraulics.com/hosebuilder/hoseBUILD.asp

Don't know anything about them but I venture to say it will be cheaper than the Ford replacement when it is available in NOVEMBER!

Just had to buy a new driveshaft because ford thinks they might be making new center bearings around October.luckily the shop wanted to buy my old driveshaft to have on hand when bearings are available again.

If it's just the hydraulic hose any place that repairs heavy equipment should be able to make one.
