What do you call a center cap that leaves the lugs exposed?

I have this type (with a Lincoln center logo) on my 2003 retro's original wheels.

A hub cap. I've never heard the term "lug nut cap".

Wow Tina, a DSB (desert sky blue). Don't let anyone call it baby blue, it's a Thunderbird and it's a rare DSB!

Tina, one peril no one has mentioned is teeth and gum protection. You'll be smiling uncontrollably all during your long trip and your teeth and gums will begin to parch. Also, your lips will begin to crack, so along with the sunscreen and hat, fill up two tall glasses of cold something, put them in your console cup holders and sip frequently. Remember to close your lips while sipping, otherwise it makes a mess all over the front of your blouse.

Thanks y'all. I do have the hardtop! I just cant believe it. Ive got my plane tickets and it looks like I'm all set. I am thinking that it would be nice to keep the "hubcaps" saved for special rides and put a reasonable hubcap for this long, non-auspious, ride. Jerry, something from a Lincoln? Wallaby, maybe I should just hook up an I.V. for dehydration protection? LOL!

Tina, Just leave the hub caps/center caps in place. I never took mine off and I have almost 80,000 on my Bird and they still look like new. Congrats on your new Bird.

Now, all you need is a TBN Grill Badge on that Bird. Look in the TBN Store.

Tina, your hubcaps will stay just fine through your whole trip. The one major thing that may damage them is actually taking the cap off if you don't know how to do it.

                                Re: 03 in my sights!

Congrats, Tina! Told you to hang in there. You did and now you have a nice, relatively rare DSB. You are going to love it.

If part of your concern is that the center caps may come off, don't worry about it. They aren't going anywhere. It takes a little work to remove them and as Dot says, if not done correctly the result will be more harm than they can possibly getting into on the car.

Next project ....... attend a TBN event and meet some folks in person.
