    Re: New Top

Ron, Getting back on subject. If you aren't concerned about selling value/orginal specs I would go with whatever you like. Mine came with black and I never change between winter and summer in FLA. It just comes down to what YOU like.

I have been around here for almost 10years now and you'll get lots of opinions but it still comes down to this, It's your car and do what you like.

        Re: New Top

I am leaning towatd a lighter color that looks natural with the Monterey mist . I lake the tan colors but with the grey interior may stick with grey. Has any one gone from what we have to vinyl? I haven't had any vinyl in many many years' Does it hold up better or worse. My factory top is both faded and shrunk quite a bit. Thinking vinyl may show creases over time

That would look great on a VMG.

when the time comes I might try this on my Merlot with sand. The sand top is enough to drive you nuts with mildew stains.

I had seen this and forgot about it. The vinyl sure looks better to me reguardless of which color I end up with. Mildew is a major problen with slow drying canvass and mine has also shrunk quite a bit. Thanks for all the good comments. Jax has one of the best top shops in Fl so I will be visiting them n a month or so.

                        Re: New Top

Ron, My top will be one the car 1 year next month. It still looked as good as new when I put my hardtop on mid December. From install date till mid December car was always parked outdoors in the elements in Florida,, never anything special in cleaning, just the same car wash suds and sheepskin covered sponge I use to wash with. I put the top on for my move to Atlanta and have not removed it yet, will be doing that any day now, just waiting for pollen to let up as I will not be running top down through that and no need to add it to the mix in cleaning the convertible top nor would I want the pollen folded into the well if I were to put the top down. I can honestly say I've had no regrets in my decision to change materials or color. Everyone who has seen it actually thinks it looks better than the original top did from day one. Probably the most sensible of all mods I've done or contemplated.

I think it looks alot better than original also. My only question is the headliner, what color is it, did you have a choice to match the interior? Leroy

Leroy, The headliner is separate, my headliner was still in excellent condition, so it was not replaced. They do have headliner fabric in a selection of colors, if I had needed to replace it, I would have found a color to match the existing headliner / interior color.
