    Re: Retro Birds Future Values

The value of our Bird for tax purposes is declining but the value to us is about to rise sharply since my wife will retire on July 1 and we can travel more often.

      Re: Retro Birds Future Values

I'm not too interested in the resale value of my retro, although a rise in resale value could be an indicator as to the popularity of the car.

No property tax on cars in Jersey. We pay a registration fee per vehicle. Classics get a break.

But, we really get smacked around when it comes to real estate taxes.

California has notoriously high taxes an although there is no "property" tax on our cars the tags are costing us an arm and a leg.

Just as there are many facets to a fine gemstone, so are there many factors which lend to the mystique of our T-Birds. A slower than average depreciation is one of them!

Just had my '04 appraised and an offer made of one million dollars. It wasn't a cash offer, of course, but the guy wanted to trade it for two $500,000 Pintos he has out back of his house.

If you take the deal, try not to put gas in the Pinto's tanks. It's not healthy, so I've been told.

Joyce would appreciate if you wouldn't mention we pay no property tax on vehicles in Ca.If Jerry finds about that I will probably have to go back to work. this might be the only one they missed!

Should have kept my mouth shut. The tax bill just arrived. It only went down $5 for each Bird from last year. I'll be shelling out $1201.62 by June 5 ($600.81 each). You don't want to know what the Shelby is (more than both Birds combined). At least the Expedition and '89 Bird are cheap!

Lived in CT, but in those days only drove junkers. Tax was cheap.
Lived in MI no tax on vehicles but they got income & sales.
Down here in the Republic no vehicle or income tax but they get you on real estate.

Yeah, we got that one yesterday. All are due June 5th. Fortunately, since we still don't have the COO on the workshop/poolhouse yet, they can't tax us on it, but the house & pool are bad enough.

Real estate taxes? Jersey? Bergen County?

                          FUGEDABOUTIT!

How about mid 8K on a 1/4 acre property, raised ranch/bi-level built in 1964. No pool.

Decent house, nice neighborhood, good town (tax rates in our town are less than surrounding towns due to the number of shopping malls)

                          But, $8,500 and climbing?

Plus NJ sales taxes and NJ state income taxes.

                          But, cheap gasoline, relatively.

If they become that way, it's another discussion. Heck, some people here believe that certain colors are faster than others.

Its all about the ride. who gives a crap about the future value?

if you do just drain all the fluids and vacuum pac the car.

Black is the fastest color, thats why my bike is black.

My wifes bird is silver and I hear its the sexiest color and im a believer.

Georgia, Cobb County (outside of Roswell, GA a suburb of Atlanta)
How about $790 on 1/2 acre property, two story built in 1979, nice house, nice neighborhood, in lakes (2) community, with HOA owned swimming pools (2), clubhouse, tennis courts (4), top-noch public schools in the state including HS rated in the "top ten"?

The downside - there is a property tax on autos - $189 for 2011 on the Tbird, but even with this, it is a cheap place to retire.
