  • How often do you drive your T'bird?

    Hi guys,
Just curious as to the driving habits of the members.
How often you drive your T'birds?

I'm lucky, I have more than one.
I drive one every day it's not rainy.
I'll get off work and drive 40-50 miles just for fun sometimes. My philosophy is that we should enjoy the things or lifestyle we like, and often. I admit I put miles on my cars so they aren't worth as much. But still, the enjoyment is worth it.

How often do you guys get your Tbird out?

Typically, if the suns out we are rollin. In the summer that is. Winter it is curled up in the garage asleep.

However, we also have a motorhome so we spend a fair amount of time traveling in our coach and pulling our Honda CRV. (I would not even dream of towing the Bird). Honda's are disposable much like a Bic Lighter.

For me, owning one of these is about driving and enjoying it.

It's a rare day when I don't drive somewhere in mine. If it is just to breakfast on a monday morning or to the grocery store. In the fall and winter it's top down time here, but in the summer it's A/C time until the sun goes down.

I have two and both are put away in Oct. and don't come out to play until May. For the remainder of the year they only come out when weather is clear of inclement weather.
2003 Torch Red has a little under 18K.
2005 Inca Gold has a little over 5K.

Although I own the hard top for BURRRD, I generally leave her top down, and only take her out when the weather's appropriate; She's enjoyed on a MLB schedule: comes out with the first pitch of the RedSox season/back in bed after the last pitch of the World Series. I'd love to drive her more, but find that whenever I go out, it occurs to me that what I'm headed out to buy just won't fit in the trunk, so I end up taking the SUV.

We are very fortunate to have a Mint Green TBird in Florida for the winter and an Evening Black in NH for the summer months. In Florida Mint Bird is essentially a daily driver. In NH the Black Bird is more pampered due to rainy summers, but she gets out every chance we get. Both Birds are driven; miles is not an issue for either one. They are fun to drive with the top or without. Love them both.

Mine is a daily driver, rain, sun, groceries, plants, whatever. It's also a nearly every day smile/conversation starter. The top remains on, I like the look. What I don't like is that it seems to be a magnet for tailgaters, anxious to prove something, or to pretend that they've grown a pair. Road rage being what it is, I try to give them every opportunity to go past. The cars and trucks today generally exceed the capability of the drivers, I don't want to be a participant when they do so.

While ours certainly gets plenty of miles every year, it is far from a daily driver. It can sit in the garage for weeks at a time and then be on a trip for weeks at a time.

Jewel hasn't been out since we returned from Thunder In The Ozarks last month (sadly, she still needs a bath). Not sure how many times she'll be out between now and the end of May, but at that time I anticipate a 3 week, 3K+ mile road trip to Minnesota, Wisconsin and Indiana. Of course October will bring another 2+ weeks and 3K miles or so with The Big Teasy and Waltz Across Texas.

                  Good times!

Mine is a daily driver. We even drive it on the weekends. Drive it with the top down as much as we can. We take it to our local car showin Scottsdale Az. Longest continuous car show in the US. Been going on every Saturday for almost 30 yrs.

Re: How often do you drive your T'bird?

Not often enough. Original owner of 2003 that just turned 8,000 miles. I drove it more when we lived in SoCal. Our weather is just so mixed in Northwest Arkansas. The first four years, the top was down 100% of the time with the hard tonneau on. Lately, I've left the hardtop on. I know - it's sad...

I almost sold the '13 Grand Sport Corvette and the Thunderbird last fall to get a new C7 Z06, but I really like the ones I have (and being paid for carries a lot of weight)

When I bought the Thunderbird, I always said we would travel in the Bird when we retired. At 55, we have at least another 5 years to go, but we WILL enjoy traveling in the Thunderbird (some day...)

Car shows, track days, sometimes just to intimidate exotics but not a daily driver.

We're lighter. We're faster. If that don't work, we're nastier.

I've already driven it and plan to drive it every day possible.

Nat as much as we did, but usually once a week even if just to run an errand. Still just a fair weather car.Dropped from a couple thousand a year to a few hundred.

Most of the time I leave the house, it's in one of the birds with the 02 my most daily driver, rain or shine.
