Hippy_mailman, don't understand your response.
The rules if that is what you are referring to are simple & clear.
A TOTM photo contrary to what many think is not just about the car. It is about the quality of the total picture. It balance, its exposure, too bright too dark, overall composition. Things like that to make a good quality photo.
A photo should say something, not just be parked in a driveway or along side a road that has some pretty scenery.
Yes, the owner thinks their car is a winner but this a photo contest not car contest.Mike

Submitting photos to Gobird was the final result of previous attempts to keep the voting for TOTM as fair as possible. Initially, when TOTM was first started, owners sumitted their photos directly to the thread. That became more of a popularity vote than anything you see with the current method, obvious at the time.
btw, as long as this thread continues for this year, there will be a calendar to print for next year. I would like to see that tradition continue on.
PS: I really meant TOTM monthly "thread", not this particular one. :)Last edited by 5bird7; Jul 22, 2018, 09:10 PM.Limited Edition databases for 007 msg..#26 , PCR sticky, and Cashmere msg.#64

Merlot has entered (with my help) and won several times. Feels like I'm trotting out the same old horse. Just would be nice to see some fresh faces. (I'll see what I can come up with for the next go-round - if Merlot is up to it.)

It's easy to say keep it going but when you only get 2 or three entrants per months it's hard to do. I'll keep this going as long as people are interested but when I get less then two entrants per month it's hard to keep an interest in this contest. And it's also a pain when people send a pic. that isn't the right size or they send it to the wrong place without using the correct email address. Don't send your pic to a PM. Use the email address to send the pic and include your user name and your real name. If not I have to look up your screen name and or your real name. Just more work for me and I don't get paid min-wage.Last edited by Gobird; Jul 22, 2018, 09:16 PM.They are Here. Scotty, beam me up!IT'S 5 O'CLOCK SOMEWHERE

When I sent my picture in last year I sent Spence an e mail so I would do it right. He replied very timely. I had no idea or gave it any thought ever how much work was involved, so I am taking this opportunity to send a very public and personal THANK YOU SPENCE FOR YOUR HARD WORK. I hope that the core group of TBN that visit the site and those that are new send in those pictures so this "fun" TOTM can continue. TOTM is one of the many things that make this forum and the people so very special. And while I think about it I want to extend my thanks to all the owners / administrators that put this all together and have continued to keep it going.

Spence, I'm tired and mad that I can't find the thread on how to post to TOTM. Please direct to or cut and paste the directions. Thanks.Bill Coates-Canfield, Ohio

After another month of only 2 entries I'm afraid Spence may soon be calling TOTM quits if we as site members don't get busy and participate. Spence explained a little to me what he has to go through to change the TOTM picture on the home page and it seems like a lot of work for no more folks than are keeping this thing alive. He also said he really doesn't mind the work when he knows that a lot of members are getting enjoyment from it, so we need to get busy and show him we really do care.
Some of us have entered pictures pretty routinely over the years, but the rules prevent us from doing it more often than every 6 months. That rule was to insure more than a few people won all the time. It's a good rule, but it really only makes sense if others also participate.
It not hard to enter - just follow the instructions in this link: http://www.thunderbirdnest.com/forum...photo-for-totm
If you don't know how to size your photo correctly, just ask. I'm sure several of us will be glad to help.
And YES, despite the name ... it really is a photo contest, not a car contest. We all know what the cars look like and to be honest we really can't tell how spotless they are, so don't worry about whether the car is perfectly clean or not. It's been my experience that a picture in your garage, in your driveway (unless you own the Biltmore), with the bra on, taken into the sun or out of focus probably aren't going to win. Don't let that discourage you, just go out and take a great picture or submit a great one you've made in the past.
I'm willing to help in anyway I can, so if you have a question ask away or PM me if you don't want to put it out in front of everyone.Last edited by 2K2BIRD; Aug 2, 2019, 09:12 AM.21 years, 174K miles, 48 States X 2 & DC, 9 Canadian provinces, 8 European countries, 3 Caribbean Islands, 3 Hawaiian Islands, 100+ National Park locations, 150+ T-bird events, 190+ retrobird diecasts/models, 13 TOTM pics & some very special friends...THANKS TBN !
