2003 Vin#s and production

Rumor has it that some 2003 customers cars are "bucked" ie - on the assembly line as of last Thursday. However, with the plant retrofitting right now, those probably won't finish moving down the line until production starts up again this week - hopefully today or tomorrow???

We have a member keeping an eye on the line so when it starts up again and you have a vin#, he'll let you know when your car is done. Just post your vin # here and he'll keep an eye out for it. It's just a fun thing to know and gives you a "birthdate" for your car.

Those of us that had 02s ordered went thru the process so we know what it feels like to know when your car is done and ready to be shipped - that last period will seem like the longest!

Missed your posting earlier... Got someinfo from my dealer today. As of this morning, their expecting delivery sometime next week. Vin# is 1FAHP60A43Y100205.

i hope they are right and arent pulling your leg cause as of monday 11-25 i was in wixom and saw over 300 birds on the back lot. still dont have the final approval to ship. and i was told that it was looking like the mid of dec to maybe even the first of the year before these would ship. a dealership here locally has number 389 and they couldnt even get info when it would be shipped. hope you are right guess we will see.....

I saw the computer screen myself. Dealer ETA week of Dec 2. I went through all the details with the salesmanager. He's expecting it on next weeks truck. Know if Ford's holding back the 03 to clear the lots of 02. Their going to have to hold the 03 back longer than a few weeks. My dealer has 3 black, 2 Red, 2 Blue, 2 White 02 on his lot.
He's had these since Oct. and has not sold one since. He told me that he's asking 2500 below MSRP. No takers. I've been waiting since June for my 03 so if I have to wait a few more weeks so be it. It's going to sleep through the first few month of our Midwest winter anyway.

one can buy a tbird on a ford plan now on the 02. i hope you do get your 03 what is the vin on it. I just know that wixom stated that the final approval wasnt done yet and the plant is running a 4 hour day

The subject of these postings is quite an eye catcher! Being a total novice, what is the usual timeframe from order date to the assignment of a VIN?

03 they were only on 343 when i was there monday running 4 hour shift with not many going down the line.

Duke when you get to wixom tell Jim at the leak booth hi and that jerry made back to kansas city ok and tell tom at the end of the line where if something needs fix he does it, hi also. there is alot of good people there.

Colonel: order date to assignment of vin depends on how many your dealership is alloted and your placement in that allotment. Since your dealer is only getting 2 and you seem to be #1 on his list, then you'll probably get your vin# assigned within the next couple of months. Keep us up to date on your Vin# status as we don't know for sure just how Ford is assigning vins this year - we're just going by what they did last year.

Last year, most birds were ordered by customers and they had to wait their turn. This model year, few birds are customer ordered so they should get them pretty quick. Customer orders have priority over dealer stock orders.

My '03's VIN is 1143. Status listed as Bucked still at this point. They are saying it's to be built this week with dealer ETA of wk12/16. any news for Born-on date appreciated.

Dropped by dealer yesterday to get an update. No VIN assigned yet. Tried the 800 number and the system can't distinquish the body type as "P60" I guess due to my Southern drawl - keeps responding "T60",so I can't get an update from there. The dealer told me that they were informed by their Regional Sales Manager that they would probably get only one 2003 (mine) instead of the two 2002's they got as dealer stock orders this year.

My t-bird was delivered two weeks to the day (exactly) from the assembly date - so realistically if it is being produced this week - you "could" have your car in two weeks - so the date of the 16th is probably realistic...

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you - I know how the wait can be! Especially when it is close to the end!
