  • Cop Poll: 02 verses 03/05

This is a poll on cop problems comparing 02 Birds verses the 03 to 05 models. If you have an 02 vote either no problem with the 02 or vote yes with the 02. If you have an 03 to 05 vote yes for a problem or vote no if you haven't had a problem with your 03 to 05.

If you are lucky enough to have multiple cars the poll will take more then one vote.

This poll was requested because of the engine difference between the 02's and the 03/04/05's. this is the reasoning behind the poll.

              Spence,

What exactly are you hoping/thinking this pole will show?

There are so many factors involved - engine differences, age, miles, usage patterns, quantities built, climate, oil/water in plug wells, no oil/water in plug wells, # of COP failures, etc. - that it seems hard to boil this COPs thing down to a specific issue or two.
              21 years, 174K miles, 48 States X 2 & DC, 9 Canadian provinces, 8 European countries, 3 Caribbean Islands, 3 Hawaiian Islands, 100+ National Park locations, 150+ T-bird events, 190+ retrobird diecasts/models, 13 TOTM pics & some very special friends...THANKS TBN !

Re: Cop Poll: 02 verses 03/05

The Poll was in response to a Member who thought the '02's haven't experienced COP issues as much as the '03-'05's.
That comment was made on another thread.

That said, CARYOY (an '02) has experienced bad COP's with oil in the wells, water in the wells, and just bad Coils.
When all 8 were replaced with Borg Wagner coils, and Motorcraft plugs, last year, the plugs that were removed looked just fine.

Our 04 Tbird has no problems yet with 46000, however the 02 LS we had started at 53000 and we had to replace three cops. The Tbird has recently had a skip when pulling a hill less than 50 mph. This has not been consistent though.

No problem on my '03, but mileage is low at 14,000.

02 with no problems, replacing orignal battery this spring as I don't trust a 9 year old battery, but even still seems good. Tires are coming off due to age, but are wearing well and have better than 1/2 tread at 20K miles.

The limited sample thus far shows 59% of '02 problem free and 60% of 03-05 problem free. Pretty much the same.
