I won't spit in her face but I won't give her the time of day either nor will I ever contribute to her royalities ($$$) by watching her movies or buying and reading her books.
In my eyes she is an outcast and most of what she did was publicity and for self importance reasons.

What Jane Fonda did back then was STUPID, and I thought she looked like an IDIOT! But if these Pearl Harbor survivors can stand on the Arizona Memorial over the spot where over 1,100 American soldiers are entombed, and shake hands with the Japanese soldiers who attacked them, then I think people can forgive Jane Fonda. After all, it's been over 33 years!

The USS Arizona Memorial at 7:00 AM

At 7:00 AM Pearl Harbor was quiet, much like it was that Sunday morning December 7, 1941. Very little movement was evident in the harbor except for some small boats taking old war adversaries out to the memorial for the annual services.



This year three Japanese pilots that took part in the attack accompanied the survivors of the USS Arizona. As I was listening to a radio station that was broadcasting the services on the memorial, I was thinking that it was time to forgive Japan but not yet willing to forget the brave men who had died here.

As the chaplain continued, a light sprinkle began on the harbor and a brilliant rainbow formed over the memorial.

Each of the half dozen persons I was standing with had the same thought and together we expressed that it must be a sign that our thoughts and prayers were being acknowledged as being worthy.

I could go to North Vietnam today and shake the hands of my former enemies. They were doing their job, just as I was. They were formidable adversaries, and I respect that. Your little tribute above has nothing whatsoever to do with what Jane Fonda and Vietnam vets are at odds over. Ask how many WWII vets would shake hands with Tokyo Rose, that's a far better analogy. Why don't you just drop it. Maybe you and your SSR buddies can drool over Jane together.

You know Sam, your right, and I think she should place a very large wreath at the WALL, and say to all American service members... " I was extremely naive and did many dumb things in my younger years during the Vietnam war. There is no way that I can right those wrongs, but I am truly sorry for my actions, and deep in my heart I honestly hope that you will forgive me for my poor judgement and inappropriate activities" If she does that, then I would have to forgive her of her human frailty.. I don't think she has done it yet though....

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A man spit tobacco juice into the face of actress Jane Fonda after waiting in line to have her sign her new book, police said.


Jennings said Fonda received a standing ovation when she came out and when she finished speaking. Alan Tilson, one of those who had his book signed but left before the incident, said the crowd was very ``warm and supportive'' to Fonda and he was surprised to learn what had happened.

``In spite of the incident, my experience in Kansas City was wonderful and I thank all the warm and supportive people, including so many veterans, who came to welcome me last night,'' Fonda said.

I give her standing ovations quite often each day.

I know it is a source of great hurt, and anger, to many who served in Viet Nam, as it should be.
Maybe if some Viet Nam Vets went up to her, shook her hand, and said "I forgive you for what you did during the war." The healing process might begin?
Just think aboit it, THAT would take a REAL man, and show how much better you are, to take the first step, and be the FIRST to show that kind of compassion, and forgiveness.

People make choices in life and have to live with their decisions. One of those is knowing when to let things go. Freedom of speech is one of those. It is ok to have a say about an issue. And that is about as far as it goes.

I can't see Jane dipping chew, but if that guy would've offered forgiveness in the form of a chew-spit handshake, perhaps it would've been better received, as a mutual act of forgiveness and contrition?
