being able to raise/lower with the hand winch while the other hand is free to guide is what appealed to me. The winch is mounted on the bar and travels with the roof. The others with the electric winch don't have the same precise control as this one. IMHO. And the price was right...

I have the same hoist as this one and works just great . ( Not Rusty's style ) Use it every spring and fall . One man operation . Purchased from a owner who sold his Bird a few years ago .

I emailed coats a couple pictures of my rigging. Not too proud of my photography, but Bill is free to post the pictures on the forum if he thinks they are of value.

This is identical to the hoist that Chromer sold me. Just opened the box. Best $50 I've spent recently. Bob Stotts' system uses the same bar I believe.

A $89 electric is on Ebay if you are looking for one. Amazing as the price goes up as you put Mercedes in the description.

Bill, be careful on the back twin straps, looks like they hook onto top on a painted surface, between the weather seal & top. Might chip paint.

Can not find the picture but I think Bob's longer back strap goes under the back window and hooks actually into the bar. He also has 2 more straps with loops at the end that he hooks onto the two rear pins. Very sturdy and vey balanced.
