  • That's right, David. It was the event that never happened due to the hurricane. Everyone was completely bummed out about it. A couple of weeks or so later we received all the goodies in the mail from Van Gale that we would have received at the event, including the dash plaque in the picture, a larger participation wall plaque, hot sauce with the event label, plastic cups and beads with the VTCI, Acadia Club and TBN logos embossed on them. I'm sure it would have been a great event.

      • Here's an item from TBN's past not associated with an event. This really nice calendar could be purchased in late 2007 for the year 2008.

        1. Who provided the calendar for TBN members to purchase?

        2. Who helped the seller design and produce the calendar?

        3. Who else still has one?

Good guesses but both are incorrect.

            General hint:

The person in question is easily identified in this picture:

            • I can find my 2009 version of that calendar but will have to search harder for this one
              so
#1 - Steve Raileanu made the calendar (Don't remember his handle)

#2 - Paul seems to be the most easily identifiable person that helped with that calendar

#3 - I must still have that calendar, somewhere??

Well Paul, looking at that picture is like me visiting the eye doctor. I can pick out the front row, David & Jeannie, George, Gary &BJ and Paul & Rosetta, from there to the back it's all a blur to me, time for new glasses.

Oh and I don't know if any of the front row are the answers to question #1 or question #2 and I never had a copy of the calendar so my answer to question #3 is no.

I do have to ask, where is that picture taken, it is a great photo.

                  • Dot is correct about Steve Raileanu being responsible for making the calendar. Steve, who's handle is js tbird, and his wife Jeanette are from Lake Anna, VA. Steve is a professional photographer and high scool teacher. He was very active on TBN in the late 2000s. Steve's marketing class at Louisa County High School in Mineral, VA helped develop the calendar as a class project.

The calendar also featured a couple of great pictures of the Ford prototype supercharged retrobird owned by Earl Tindol of North Carolina, along with a short story about it by Jim Youngs, project manager.

The back cover credits the kids and Steve and has a picture of a 007 owned by a TBN member. Any guesses as to the driver and owner of the 007?

                    20200904_104741.jpg

Yes, Ted, as Dot said, the hint picture was taken at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in 2006. Steve and Jeanette are standing by their Merlot in the second row.

There's sure been a lot of great folks here on TBN over the years. All in all, the givers have far out numbered the takers.

                    • I never got an answer of the 007 owner on the back cover of the calendar. That is none other than Joe Moore of Carolina Battleship Thunder fame. Joe's first love was his black bird, hence his handle My Raven, but he also owned this 007 and if memory serves me a Merlot as well.

This week's throwback is a little closer back in history. The event will be easy to identify when you see the item, so that won't be one of the questions. The poster in the picture hangs in my garage so getting a good picture without shadows and reflections is impossible.

                      1. How did I end up with this special poster?

                      2. How many were given out?

                      3. Do you have one? If so, post the reason why.

                      • No guesses?

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm talking to myself. All of these cars and the people that came in them were at the Pikes Peak event:

Surely someone knows what I'm talking about.

After all these years what makes you think that would change now?
(I think I'm parked behind you in that photo)

Good point. That does indeed look like your car. Last year I had the opportunity to have a MSG top on our car for awhile. I really liked the look of the colors together.

                            • I was there, but have no recollection of the poster or how many. I certainly don't have one.
