  • Jeannie and I were on of these. We missed Thunder across Texas and Thunder out West, both due to surgeries I endured at those times. As a side note, I think Jeannie and I can take credit for starting those trips when we went to Nova Scotia and asked anyone on TBN if they wanted to meet up for lunch somewhere.. Paul and Rosetta, and Bill Green and friend decided to join us on the trip which turned out to be fantastic. BTW, it should be noted that although we had all met at several small events and Florida Destination, we had never travelled together. We have since travelled over all 48 stated, most of Canada and 9 European Countries together. Bill missed Europe. Our travels couldn't have been better and the memories will stay with us all for life. What's better than that.
Unbelivable TBN trips including ALL of the lower 48 States plus 9 Canadian Provinces, 8 European Countries, 3 Caribbean Countries, Countless National Parks and have attended well over 100 TBN Events since 2001 and counting. Best of all ... fabulous friends.

    • We've only been on one, north by northwest and it was for a very short leg of it up in Nebraska (Dizzbe's territory at the time). My memorable moment was driving thru a native wild animal park and having to stop for a little bit to watch a couple of young bull bison having it out with each other as they headed in the direction to cross our path or make us part of their path. Then the old bull, having had enough of their shenanigans, and came out and sent them back into the herd and we were able to pass safely.

      • Yes, we have to give David & Jeannie credit for the original concept of the travel events. Our trip to the Maritime Provinces in 2009 was really the beginning of our trips. It was more or less a test cruise to see how well a multiple day road trip would work. Needless to say, it worked out well enough for 10 more.

Ron, the Northwest Angle was really cool, but it was part of one of the smaller trips - Great Plains Thunder.

Okay you are right, then the visit to Fort Jefferson comes to mind.

Great Friends and Plenty of Adventure!

Saw some sites there that we would have never seen otherwise.

Dot - still actually in NE (can you believe it). The park was fun & we even got Lou to drive on dirt roads in the black bird.

Vickie, somehow had the impression you had moved out of NE a few years ago. Glad you are still there. Maybe it was a move to a new home? Also, Thanks for posting a pic of those buffalo. Went thru my photos and I didn't even get one of that scene. Must have been too nervous to worry about taking a photo when my 57 appeared to be in the wrong place for a bit.

                  • I missed the Europe and the Thunder Around the Lakes and the 1st part of the Waltz Across Texas, also I missed the Thunder Out West in 2018. But have been on all the others. As David and Paul said the 1st trip to Prince Edward Island was the start of the long travel together trips. Gary (sure miss him) and BJ were on that one but had to turn around at the Canadian border. The friend that traveled with me has since passed away, so that was a great memory to have of him. With all the travels 15AGAIN and I have been in 48 States, 9 Canadian Provinces and I think if I went back to Rhode Island again I would have the 48 states a 2nd time. I know Paul is working on his 3rd time.
With out the TBN events and all the travel events retirement would not have been near as much fun. Great friends, great sites and a lot of laughs.

I'll never forget that we got caught in a little thunderstorm coming into Carlisle that afternoon. Not a big deal except for the fact the top was down and I knew we'd get wetter if we stopped to put the top up, so I just kept driving. The not so silent alarm in the passenger seat was going off pretty loud, if you know what I mean.

Looks like you need a road trip next summer.

That was one of many times we had rain storms with tops down. The one I remember the most was after we had left Campabello and had just gotten back in the US and it really rained hard. David radioed, “ I think it will miss us” wrong!

                          • Thanks to those that replied to last week's post. Several of those travel events had over 30 people involved for some period of time in them, so I thought we might have had a few more replies.

This week's item is definitely different. Let's see who recognizes this travel event souvenir.

                            20201026_214903.jpg

                            1. What is this item?

                            2. Name the event it came from.

                            3. Any idea what is written on it and why?

                            4. Who else has one?
