Re: AVERAGE AGE OF T BIRD OWNERS

    I was 30 (1980) in when I bought my first - a 1978 Bird (the Green Monster)
I was 33 (1983) when I bought my '83 Bird (the complete lemon)
I was 55 when I ordered Goldilocks, and
I was 57 when Moondoggie arrived here in '07.

Seven months till I turn 60, and you just never know when my next Bird will land here at the "White House". I'm always looking...

Re: AVERAGE AGE OF T BIRD OWNERS

First one was a 1958 DeSoto firedome sportsman w/392 hemi . Mom worked for the state and bought it from the hwy patrol when they finished with it after about 2 years . I was always told it was the directors car as it had all the cop goodies but was a 2 door---go figure . Too hot for her so she had one of the carbs blocked off . I got it in 1968 @15 yrs old and did not know what I had . Must have drove 100 miles up and down the driveway till I turned 16. Shoot , everyone had GT Mustangs and SS Camaros and such in H.S. all I had was a damned old DeSoto . It had big ole fins and they didnt even make 'em any more .Then I found out about hemi's and carbs and thats another tale .

      After kids and such -----
      1993 Lightning
      1993 Cobra Mustang
      1999 Lightning
      2001 Lincoln LS 5 speed
      Now @ 56 my first Thunderbird .
I kinda miss that supercharger whine though .

          Ken -
I am 69 and recently gave my TBIRD to my granddaughter for her college graduation
gift.....since then she has loaned it back to me until I grow old and can't drive anymore.

I will let Elizabeth tell you how old she is if she want to.

          Happy Trails

Re: AVERAGE AGE OF T BIRD OWNERS

I am 66 years old. When I was in college I had a customized 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 HT coupe with the Tbird special 312 CI 245 HP engine and manual transmission. However, I always wanted a 1957 Tbird and later the dream car became a 1969 Jaguar series II XKE. When I retired in 1999 at age 57, I decided to buy a new Jaguar XK8 coupe - they (the new ones) drive so much better than the old XKEs and cost about the same at that time. Then I decided to look for a 1957 Tbird to fill out my wish list about the time the 2002 Tbird came out. Decided on the new Bird for the same reason I decided on a new Jag since it took about the same amount of money. At that time dealers here were asking $52,000 for the retro Tbird. Figured I could get one later/cheaper, and I did. Got a new 2005 TBird in 2005 (at age 63) for way under the sticker price ($42,605). Always have had performance type cars, but not really ultimate "muscle" ones. Have owned Datsun 280ZX, Nissan 300ZX, Toyota Supra, 1967 Mercury Cougar, 1966 Ford Fairlane GT, 1971 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ to name a few.

Re: AVERAGE AGE OF T BIRD OWNERS

I was 52 when I started following the first reports on the net that one might be coming again. 56 when we bought our 02 new. I'm still here. the 'birds are no longer being built (did we ever think that would occur? or did we think it would occur each year during production?). The warranties are running out and the 10th anniversary of the production car is in a couple of years and the concept is now 10+ years old. 17 more of those kind of years and our birds will be AACA eligible. It's going by fast...

Bought my wife an 02 Yellow Tbird last year when we were 57!!!
Also have a 1972 Rally Nova, the first new car we purchased the summer after we were married. Sold it and bought it back many years later and dumped a small fortune in it to make it exactly like it was when new. Remember we were in college, a 307, not a 350===a 3 speed on the floor, not a 4 speed and an AM radio with the real luxury of a rear seat speaker. Window sticker price $2828. Having it back---purely priceless!!

First TBird was a new black 1985 Turbocoupe, I was 42.

Second was a white 1958 squarebird purchased in 1989, I was 46 (car has since been sold)

Third Bird was a new black 1994 LX to replace the wrecked 1985, I was 51.

                            Last was a new black/saddle 2003, I was 60.

Now, at age 66, I still have the 94 and 03.

Just a few of the more interesting cars along the journey and the number of months that I owned them:

You and Funderman (Steve Hoge)) own two of the same cars I believe - a 1994 and 2003 Tbirds. Also believe you are the same age.
