Totally bald and have very fair skin.....must wear a hat when topless.
I have been wearing a baseball cap and have been surprised that the wind does not seem to bother it too much. However, I would like something that offers a bit more sun protection for back of my neck for times I expect to be driving for long periods with the sun beating down. I have been looking at some of the Tilley hats with a small brim and a bit of the mesh in the crown for cooling. The LTM3 AIRFLO model has the smaller brim with a chin strap plus it snaps to fold up the sides (Aussy style) if desired. I think this combination should be able to deal with the wind as well as a baseball cap.
For those of you who need to wear a hat like me, what have you had good luck with? Anyone have experience with the Tilley hats in a driving situation? I have never owned a Tilley hat but they have a great reputation but are pricey.
As a side note, for sun protection, I started wearing a long sleeve shirt when I expect to be driving in the sun for a long period. I use a very lightweight shirt with many ventilation opening and a SP 50+ rating for sun protection. The shirt was actually made for fishermen to use in hot sunny areas. I have found that it is actually cooler driving in the sun with this shirt on than it is with a normal short sleeve shirt. I got mine at BassPro Shop but they are available from many retailers that cater to the sportsman market
