Love the DBP, Bobby. I, too, was one of those holding out for the '06 version, which is how I ended up with the two '05s I now have. Maybe someday I'll get another Bird and have the whole thing painted DBP...would look good with the sand accent!

I've seen a number of 55 Ford converts with yellow on top, black below the chrome strip, and white on top, red below..
I think it was left up to the buyer
2010 Explorer Limited Edition, tri color white, camel interior
2003 TBird black/saddle
1964 Ford Galaxie 500XL conv't turq/black
2004 Lincoln LS 8 Sport light tundra metallic/medium stone
I think Jerry is right RE: dark on top or bottom. I certainly have seen orig 55s and 56s both ways.
I like this combo and I like the color Dark Blue Pearl........

Invoice $38,457 - Sold new 9/15/2003
One of twenty two built like this
She was a good one. Sold 12/30/2014.
Replaced with 2013 Infiniti G37 Coupe.
A lot better car and even more exclusive, but doesn't have the Cachet the Thunderbird had. Adios, mi Amigo.
MSB was our second choice if we could not have found the IG.
You must have a hoist to be changing tops every so often.
My wife has "informed" me she no longer wants to help put it on or off anymore so guess it stays off as I don't want to involve a friend or neighbor in case anything would happen during install/ takeoff.
That top looks awesome! Great color combinations, a true one of a kind. Glad to see that all of your homework and planning turned out well. My '03 MSG came with a MSG hard top, but recently I purchased an EB hard top. I thought about just flipping the top, but it is sharper looking than I thought it would be. So it looks like a two hard top choice here too. The EB hard top gives the car a completely different look, darker over dark works for my '03. MSG come with a black soft top- yes we all know that- but the glossy black top with silver porthole trim just makes a major difference. This is just another fun feature of owning an automobile, making it personalized. Nicely Done!
3M Banar
Vey 60's color on the body. Lot's of Galaxies and Impalas used some version of that silver/blue.
I like it.
Maybe I could go for the chrome mod if it were thinner and framed the whole wheelwell.

It's beautiful! I love it! Have you thought of adding a thin double pinstripe along the side (one matching the dark blue hardtop and one white), and also adding whitewalls? I know not everyone likes pinstripes or whitewalls, but I do, and I think it would really look sharp on your color combination.

Good call on the pinstripes! Actually, the DBP pinstripe is already a possibility I've considered. I am talking to some painters now, but it likely won't be until spring/summer. I don't want to go too overboard with the DBP color, as I'd like to just be able to simply switch back to the MSB top and go back to the original color, more or less.
I am definitely looking at getting a pair of Gary Kimmel's tonneau covers and having them painted DBP as well. That way I can enjoy the color combo even with the top off!

I love it...very classy combination...mine's not a special paint job like yours, but it still gets the stares.
Yours is beautiful, Jim. Seeing the whitewalls on yours definitely makes me think about adding those to mine, too. Curious as to how whitewalls would look with the dark blue on medium steel blue. Also thought about "blueline" tires as well.
