  • That's great that one(different) can go out every 3 months and the dealer will fix for free.

Not sure I understand your comment. I could have any number of them go out at any time and they'd all be fixed free of charge.

      • That's wonderful that you have a warranty that has no deductible for any repair on your bird anytime. That's all I was saying.

I didn't say that. There's no deductible on the COPS warranty. The regular ESP warranty has a deductible. I was strictly talking about the COPS.

I hope you didn't have to pay. Somewhere in the archives here I think there's a PDF copy of the warranty letter that was sent to all '03-'05 owners.
I still have 8 months left on Moondoggie and 10 months on Goldi's Cops warranties.

If they were within time and mileage requirements, they should have been covered for subsequent owner.

6 of 8 of my COP's were replaced by the prior owner. But he also told me he replaced the valve cover gaskets too. I'm not sure if that was a Ford SOP? I'm sure someone will clarify that...At any rate I've had no problems since....AS YET!

Just looked at my repair order from the local Ford dealer who did all 8 of my Cops on Ford's dime. They replaced gaskets and spark plugs which I'm sure if it wasn't Ford's SOP would have cost me.

Poll is certainly out dated..... I have seen several threads from 02 owners re: replacing COPS since they voted no problems two or three years ago.

Guess that goes to show that for most of our cars, it is more of a matter of when, not if they are going to fail.

A more interesting stat would be how many for each year made it to 80+K without having to change one.

I agree Paul that would be very informative. If my car makes it to 35K miles on the originals then it will be someone else's problem after that. I will start a new poll tomorrow.

No problems on either T-Bird, however, I have only 16K+ on the 03 Red and a little over 5K on the 05 Inca Gold.

Running like junk check cpo found #6 full of oil all rest little water oil ( over the years changed 3 cpo )went and pulled the plug:) and got all new motorcraft cpo&plugs along with new valve gaskets. Decided to tackle the job checked all the threads and found a lot of opinions. The break down on the pass side not so bad just move acc stuff I found blue tape helps so you don't scratch anything like the fan reservoir on pass side valve gasket . Driver side the big thing is the gas line over the valve cover went to advanced and got a $10 ac-gas disconnect worked great. Carb cleaned everything installed gaskets a little silicone where needed. You all out there have changed a gasket in the past todays are rubber and are more forgiving than cork just put them on like u take them off nice and snug. No need to worry not that hard of a job. If you are willing to take your time and enjoy the project u will find it is not as bad as though. I spent $700 on parts a little high helping local and about 6hr of time . The most @#$%^& problem was re installing the oil dipstick tube pay attition because it fits behind the a/c compressor(had to remove driver side tire). Running like it did in 02 Any ? fill free to ask Tony in Asheville
