Re: Cop Poll: 02 verses 03/05

For many people they may just not have enough miles on their car. My first COP problem was at 60,124 miles. That was in June, 2010. Replaced one at that time and no problems since then and closing in on 70,000 miles.

03, I have had two COPS replaced one in Sept. 2011 coil #3 and one today coil #1. NO water or oil both coils did not set off the check engine light. Both were just starting to go cause an occasional skip or misfire. Dealer did stress test both times to find the bad coil.

When I traded for my 03 in June, prior owner (2nd) had just done all 8, but NOT due to problems. My 03 is black with cream partial...lotsa fun mods..and according to my reading, only 113 made....

02 - 2 COPS around 36,000 miles, nothing since now at 57,000. Both as a result of a gasket leak, one on each side and 1 week apart.

Drive it like you stole it !!!

I just replaced two more COPS today, that's a total of three now. This may be a stupid question and has probably already been answered but once we change these, will they go bad again? I have 50,000+ miles on the car now. I think I drove all the way to Texas and back with a bad one. I want them to all be good for Pike's Peak!!

'02 no problems yet! But then the Bird only has 7,000 mi. and still smells like new inside. Our time is coming I guess.

2002 no problems. However, have only 6k miles with clear no problems history. My time will come perhaps, but now own a Ford ESP warrantee ! Love this car.

Linda, it's best when 1 or 2 go bad to replace all of them.

Don't remember when I posted/voted with no problems on either Moondoggie or Goldilocks, but Goldi just had #3 replaced today.

                      • Are you replacing them one at a time as they go bad?

That's the only way the warranty will do it.

                          • Do you have a 100 deductible? If so you can buy a set of eight for less than $ 100. Mine were replaced under warranty by the previous owner and I had one go out replaced, week later another, went ahead replaced all two years ago, no problems since. Thanks for listening..

If you do anything yourself that would be covered under warranty, it voids your warranty. I'm not doing anything myself. Y'all can if you want to. I don't even drive 1000 miles a year between 6 cars. Not worth the hassle.

Forgot to mention - there's no deductible on the COPS warranty - it's all free to me.
