I must admit that I have only been checking in on the forum about every month or so, I was very interested in this post as my 2002 Red Bird turned 7 years old on September 26, 2009.

Like most of you I bought the car for life, I knew I would not put a lot of miles on in the beginning so I bought a 7 year ESP from my dealer. I left the mileage at 36000 (I have 18000 now). I thought this would be all the peace of mind I would need.

I was surprised to read this post and learn that we could get an additional 4 years and 48 months ESP from Ford.

I called the dealer where I purchased the Bird and got a long drawn out “sales” pitch. They quoted me several $$ more than Lou. I called another dealer and they said I could not get an ESP from Ford, but they could get me one from one of the “Warranty Companies” No Thanks....

On Saturday I called Lou and he was a great help.

It is nice to have a strong t-bird community that helps each other out.

Lou is a class act and very helpful. I strongly suggest that any one with a class car like the Bird contact him about this.

Lou's professionalism and response has been beyond what I experience at most dealerships. He is an asset to the TBN community.
As I stated in a much earlier posting, I had a quote from my dealer and then another from the CT dealer. Then I finally made contact with Lou. He was extremely helpful and patient through the process and yesterday I received my extended PremiumCare service plan in the mail.
If you want an extended warranty, you will not be disappointed!

Lou, I have a 2002 NM with a tad over 1,800 miles on it. I am not the original owner - I would like to do something with it. I don't plan on driving it much. I know there were a lot of minor issues with the 1st few birds out the door - my VIN is 217 - I doubt the original owner ever took it to a Ford dealer. I just changed the oil, it still had the original oil filter on it - I remember what the original is from my 2003. Am I still eligible for an extended warrantee? I put one on my 2003 prior to the original running out and am covered till 2011. It’s from a 3rd party, I’ve taken the ’03 in twice and have never had a problem with coverage.

Thanks for asking. Yes, you can get an ESP for your 2002 like the others. That Yankees avatar, however, is going to mean a surcharge for you.

Yes it is, but highly doubtful I can do it from here. FORD, GM, Chrysler really try to keep the two country's business separate. If you call your local FORD dealer in Canada, get their price on the 48/48,000 Premium Care ESP I may be able to tell you if it is a fair deal. Send the details to me in a private.

Lou, I received the paper work today on my 48/48 ESP, thanks again, all of this peace of mind untill Sept. 2013 for less than 90 cents a day on a $40,000 car, hard to beat.

With all the 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 t-birds sold out there, Lou's phone should be ringing off the wall.

I just renewed my warranty for another 4 years. The price was the best around and Lou was very professional. I was told that I should be receiving the contract early next week.

I'm happy to say that I can drive with ease knowing that my bird is covered for another four years.

I wish I'd seen this thread earlier.
Bought an extended warranty a few weeks ago for the '04 and probably over-paid vs what you all are quoting for prices here. The Premium care package for 4/48 ran me al little more than it sounds like others here paid but I'm still glad I did it.

The transmission is doing strange stuff that scares me for the idea that I was uncovered. It has an annoying habit of slipping between shifts into 3rd gear, for a moment under very light acceleration. Is this a fluky shift that never gets any worse or is it a harbinger of things to come?

Beats me if it's a big deal or not but the $1,500 price tag on a premium care plan that covers me for the next 4 years seemed like a no-brainer vs worrying that it may die on me at some point in the future.

Ultimately, if this plan weren't available, it's the sort of thing that might even make me consider if it isn't time to get rid of the car.

Even at $1,500 it's a hell of a deal from a "what's the alternative" view.

Selling the car would mean taking an out sized hit from what I paid for it 2 years ago.

Buying another, probably newer car, would also mean higher registration costs, insurance costs, bigger yearly depreciation and that hard to quantify cost of saying good bye to a car I really like.

Again, it's hard to imagine all this wouldn't cost far more than the 4 year piece of mind that allows me to keep the car without worry just did.

Good way to look at it. I'm getting many inquires, all but one has taken the ESP with me. The other needs to wait until his current ESP expires next year.
