Re: semi rant on color names
I spent a lot of time on autotrader, that's where I got my Cashmere. My saved search included beige, tan, cream, off white and white. I learned really fast to look at the VIN # to verify it was actually a Cashmere (somewhere I read the special editions had 69 in the VIN, was it Dot?). Someone has a bronze right now on there listed as an Inca Gold. By the same token, it helps when someone doesn't know what they have if you are the one getting it at a better price, right?

Re: semi rant on color names
Isn't Ford a little bit guilty when it comes to naming colors?
I know that TBird PCR green (Monterey Mist?) is also called Light Tundra Metallic on other Ford products, but wasn't TBird Cashmere the same as Ford's tri-color option on non TBirds?2010 Explorer Limited Edition, tri color white, camel interior
2003 TBird black/saddle
1964 Ford Galaxie 500XL conv't turq/black
2004 Lincoln LS 8 Sport light tundra metallic/medium stone

I noticed that ad myself. It's from a FORD dealer.Originally posted by hayjulz View PostI spent a lot of time on autotrader, that's where I got my Cashmere. You would have thought they would at least get it right!

I saw that, too. I'm guessing it's really a Cashmere. Nothing else in the '05 line-up that would be close.Originally posted by SixPac View PostCermaic White on a 2005 T-Bird ='s what colour? That's a new registration today.

Re: semi rant on color names
Ford is responsible for much of the confusion. When I went to get touch-up paint for my Torch Red it was called Colorado Red on the bottle.
Don't get too upset with people for color faux pas since multiple names are used for the exact same color and are more about marketing than anything else.
If you feel strongly about this you could work with sites like autotrader and get them to only allow the correct color name for specific cars (Like when you select Ford and then the next drop down only gives you Ford models)

Re: semi rant on color names
Yeah, that's a strange one, come to think of it. The sky isn't black in the evening, only fading from blue to dark blue, & then finally turning black at night. For Americans who live in the Deep South, evening is what the rest of the U.S. calls "afternoon," meaning that at, say 2 p.m. someone will say to you, "Have a good evening."Originally posted by My Raven View PostI have always wished Ford had kept the name Raven Black rather than changing it to Evening Black ....
Switching from dialectology to ophthalmology, I'm one of those often referred to as "color blind." Because I can see most colors, like the majority of the rest of the "color blind," the correct term is "color deficient." Folks who are truly color-blind see everything in black & white, while the color deficient get tripped up on just a few colors. I'm fooled by red-green & green-brown. When I joined the Army, my brains qualified me for aviation school, but my eyes flunked the color test. So they sent me to Intelligence school instead.
As for the Retro colors (sometimes misspelled as "colours") I'm certain I can see 'em as the Ford paint shop intended me to see 'em. Like everyone else, I find some I like, some make me yawn, some make me wanna shout, "What were they thinking?"Last edited by Will; Jun 5, 2011, 05:00 PM.

Re: semi rant on color names
Isn't it great that we have so little to worry about that we can discuss the arbitrary assignment of names to colors that were once called red, blue, green, black, burgundy, white and orange? Ah yes its great to be in that crowd....and to drive one of the greatest under appreciated cars in recent history. The rest of world does not know what they are missing.
