Jerry and I agree on something.

It is like a new experience and its like driving a new car even when its 7 years old and I've never kept a car so long!

Plus when the everyday users wear out, there is a good supply of beautiful low-mileage replacements. One thing that a buyer of a low-mileage car should know is that just because a car has extremely low mileage, that does not mean it will be a trouble free vehicle. Cars that sit can have far more issues than cars driven a few times a week.

And the facts are from where?
I see lots of cars on Mecum and B&J with 100- 1,000 miles on cars way older than ours and they are snapped up.
My 2011 MKS with 9K miles is way worse than my 2005 with 3,000 miles.

How about another POST. Who has Ford SYNC and likes it and may keep me from getting another. Just sayin.

I'll take my chances with the low mileage car as opposed to high mileage. Like the poster above says, buyers pay a premium at auction for low mileage with as little as 100 - 1000 miles that are 10-20 years old or more. They would not be paying a premium for low miles if there were going to be a lot of problems with those "garage queens". There are a lot of people that really know cars at those auctions. I've read in several of the Hemmings magazines where hardly anything had to be done except for a new battery, lubrication to the cylinders, and gas to start some of those cars that have sat for years, and there were minimal problems later. If something happened to our Tbird, I would love to replace it with the 2005 mentioned above with 3000 miles and would pay a handsome premium for that car.

We'll probably need your low mileage garage queens for when we wear out our cars. We been having too much fun for the last 10 years. Thanks for keeping them nice and low.

Bring your money bags because some of us will just store them or hand them down to a relative rather than giving a "garage queen" away or better yet we may take them to auction.

Can anyone answer this question? A friend of mine has an '05 Bird with less than 4K miles. He had the oil and filter changed today after 1yr. and 1600 miles and the old oil came out black. The oil that drained was Mobil 1 and was used with a Wix filter.Seems strange to me that the oil would be that dirty.

Welcome to the wonderful world of garage queens oil should be changed at least every 6 month no matter how many low the miles you put on the car. Water and moisture gets into the oil and that is what causes the dark color. Condensation is one of the worst enemies and is common in garage queens.

We get our oil changed every 12 months after driving a total of 500 miles by a neighbor/ owner of his own mechanic shop in Orlando. He does any work I need and is honest, good and expensive. Wish he wasn't so expensive though.
The oil comes out like new. I use standard oil not Mobil 1

Like V8 Cat said, bring your money bags 'cause it aint goin cheap.

The nice thing is we all like our cars whether we drive them or not. We personally just don't need a second car (we want it) thus part of the reason for the low mileage.
