Yeah... I don't know why the birthday thing, but it's been that way for years. Possibly an oversight that was never noticed. I think the different "chapters" were left available just so guests could see that TBN has them. Agreed on letting guests know that there's much more under the hood. I don't recall exactly (because it's been over a decade), but I think we accomplished that before by simply editing the greeting that guests would see (logged in users don't see it) at the top of each page. Probably a good idea to do that again... as long as I can find where it is! Thanks for the reminder, Harry.

Given the thought of Dot's that it has to be visits to the site, there is probably one line of code that says if not visited within the last XXX number of days move from active to inactive. Just asking what that # of days is.
Just to close the loop on that question... Active Members are those who've logged in within the past 30 days. It's hard coded to 30 days. There's currently no admin interface to change it, but it could be changed in code.

Done. I changed the greeting to guests to let them know that there's much more available to members. It appears at the top of every page when you're not logged in. I also incorporated the "welcome to TBN" language that we crafted a long time ago to offer up several key words to search engines. You'll have to log out to see it.

Hey gang since the system update we've peaked at about 456 ACTIVE members (per my defective memory) . today it shows 396 so it looks like 60 members who were signed in recently haven't signed on within the last 30 days.

All of us must know members who we haven't seen recently. Suggest we send a pm to these folks and ask "where ya been?". If it's the new software maybe we can offer both help and encouragement. Some might think it's none of our business etc. but as some know I'm almost paranoid that this site might become another Allante .us . (as in DEAD!)

I confess, I log in to Facebook daily but not always TBN. I usually log in more when I'm having problems with my car and need to research. Lately I've been on more because I saw the info on the Big Teasy and talked my husband into us going. I'm trying to make sure I don't miss anything I need to know about the trip. This is our first event and appreciate any advice the old timers care to share. Already got a load of info from our fellow Californian SugarDaddy in Fresno, thanks!

An equally interesting question would be how many Retro's are still registered after 13 -16 years. I tried an open records request to the State of Texas asking how many 2002 - 2005 Thunderbirds were registered and if they could possibly break down the number by year and color. I did not request VIN's, license numbers, owner info, or anything that could possibly be considered confidential. The DMV blew me off telling me that this would require 4 hours of custom programming at an exhorbitant cost. I tried to get them to waive the fee explaining that the info was only to be shared with the non profit thunderbirdnest web site, but I was corresponding with the poster child for Bureaucrat of the Year. I then asked if the local police had to pay for custom programming and wait to get a list of all the red Thunderbirds that were possible suspects for the getaway car in a bank robbery. I never got a response, and had to leave for a 2 week vacation so the issue died. I'll try again after the new year in the hopes that I will find someone who realizes this should be a simple database search exported to an Excel spread sheet. Perhaps some of the other nesters could try in their home states to see if they have any better luck. With data from several states, we could develop a reasonable estimate of the number of surviving Retro's if anyone in the group is, or knows, a statistician.
