Re: Broken Wings - January 2012

I know what you mean Chairman and I look forward to the day when we can just enjoy Mom's T-Bird the way and your "Co-Owner" do. We have a garage queen too and I know the worst thing for the vehicle is to let it sit and not be used.
You guys have 100K+ miles on your bird and it looks better than it did when it rolled off the line.
Again, I have to agree with the Chairman, there is a lot of pleasure going on trips to meet fellow enthusiastic T-Bird owners and that's what we use Mom's for when work doesn’t get in the way. We meet the best people who just like to drive the bird.
If you are not making trips to meet the members of this site, you are missing out because if you knew the Chairman and his "Co-Owner", and others like them, you would understand where they are coming from and this thread wouldn't be as long as it is.
The Chairman and his "Co-Owner" are examples of why this club is as strong as it is. Why you ask? Because they drive to where the fun is!
If you are retired and own multiple vehicles, what's keeping you from enjoying the wind in you hair and meeting the best people on this planet? Spending time on the road with the one you want to be with most, T-bird, significant other, wife, husband, whatever, makes the trip worth the time until you meet the members. Meeting the members and caring for them makes owning this machine very special.
Folks, Mom and I are 20+ years from retirement and these cars may never be collectable, not in our lifetime anyway, but the memories and pictures are. All I ask is that you get out and drive the hell out of them and enjoy them.
The Chairman can speak to that! Torch Red is faster and he know's it. I do enjoy seeing him and his "Co-Owner" in our rearview mirror.

I too am retired and my Bird is not a daily driver. In fact, I have 5 cars. However, when I do drive the Bird, it is wonderful. It was used last year on the trip west and we put on over 10,000 miles on that one alone. We jsut drove to Atlanta for Papasitos and that was another 500 miles or so.

This summer we plan on going to New England and will probably add another 5000 plus miles to the 115,000 presently showing.

Driving with and going to meet our TBN friends is where the pleasure is. The car sits in the garage most of the time, bt when it is out, it gets well used.

Claude: You should come to a TBN event and see what it all about. We were in Marietta at Papasitos last weekend with about 30 other TBNers ... where were you?

Max. Very welll put, EXCEPT the last. I do not believe for a moment that Red cars are faster. Black is best and was proven time and again at Hallet during Ozark Thunder.

Shame on you for falling for that Red is fast BS! We hope to see you and Shelley at TBN Ten Thunder here in Nashville!

        Re: Comments about "Garage Queens"

I guess one of the things I like about not driving the hell out of my retro is that when I do drive her (I try to use her once per week), it's almost a new experience.

Having three other cars (two everyday drivers and one additional toy) also keeps the mileage factor down somewhat, especially when the summer classic car show season starts.

          David,
Ozark Thunder is past history. Black is beautiful but it's not fast. After driving RON's Inca I am convinced that Vintage Merlot is likely the fastest TBN retro ride.

Roger: that really shows how little you know. If I were you, (which I'm glad I'm not), I'd keep comments like that to myself

              DavidA,
Bring that bucket of bolts to New Orleans and we will have a "feature" best two out of three runs on the NASA road. I am tired of your constant @#%%@*!

They only put black on slow cars, cause it would blow off on a fast car. Thats why you could get any color you wanted as long as it was black on a Model T. No chance of it blowing off one of them.
