The employee wouldn't need to work at the Cuautitlan plant but wherever he is, he would need access to Fords computer network and be somewhat computer savvy to find the database with the information. All salary employees would have that access but a hourly employee would need to be granted that access. In any case he would probably have to wait until a VIN was assigned. Your salesman can look up to see if the VIN has been assigned yet.

I'm afraid there isn't going to be much concrete info about your expected build date until you get much closer to the actual build date. I do not think your dealer or salesperson can determine anything until a VIN number has been assigned. DavidA, Spence, Dot and others here that ordered their Tbirds in 2000 can chime in with their experience but looking over my data here is a typical time-line of an early ordered Thunderbird.

    Typical early order timeline:
    Order Date: 11/7/2000
    Vin Assigned: 1/16/2001
    Segmented: 3/5/2001
    Build date: 5/31/2001

Maybe Ron McCloud knows for sure but I believe that "segmented date" is first step (after VIN assignment) in the scheduling process and is the date Ford assigned the month it expects to build the vehicle. I've been retired for 14 years but back then it was fairly easy for Ford employees nationwide to access the computer data to track a vehicle once the VIN is available. Hopefully your MustangE forum will snag someone from Ford to assist in data gathering for your group.

Thanks again. I WISH I had a VIN number but nothing yet.

Thanks anyway Harry. We do have a Ford employee on the site but he doesn't work at the Cuautitlan Plant and has to rely on secondhand information from a contact at the plant. That's the problem as he doesn't hear much from him lately and everyone is freaking out about their build dates. The OKTB date was moved back a week to tomorrow (11-30) but nobody knows if that's still the case. People have build weeks coming up in the next week and wonder if their cars will be built on time AND arrive in 2020 as Ford advertised. These are people who reserved a car back in November of 2019. Ford has delayed the OKTB date for the 2021 Bronco stating problems with the BLIS Blindspot Radar System.

When I ask members about my car nobody really knows but they estimate April to June 2021. I have a really hard time believing this but I guess the cars are that popular. It was also stated that some parts (batteries) are in short supply and this might affect production as well. Add in Covid 19 uncertainty's and it's anybodies guess.

Also, people wonder about what Ford said about capping production in 2021 to 50,000 units worldwide. That scares me as well because I ordered so late.

Is it true that my salesman can't see anything that might give him an idea of when it will go into production? He originally told me January or February 2021 but I'm wondering if he's stating wait times for a "normal" Ford and not this new EV
